Why Only One Intelligent Designer?

Why do ID proponents assert the existence of only one Designer? If you were to accept ID, would you not have to accept the possibility of multiple Designers?

Logically, knowing the mistakes that we humans can make (and do make every day, however good we are at what we do), the answer would be "Yes".

But God is not human; if (and I say "if" for your sake), he did create the ability for life to exist on Earth, there would have been no need for more than he, because hof his "perfect" abilities.

We, as humans, can have no comprehension of what God's abilities can actually be like; our minds have not the capability of understanding the mind of the greatest of scientists like God, whose powers are so much greater than anything we could imagine.

This is a good answer and it makes perfect sense if you believe in an infallible creator “God”. But obviously this is a religious answer. Intelligent Design pretends to be science, and if we were to treat it as thought it were science then we would have to start asking those annoying questions. How do you know? Where is the evidence? How can we test this?

When we start asking these kind of questions about a religious belief all it shows is that we just don’t get it. But in the arena of science these are the questions we must ask. And this is the problem with I.D. In trying to force a religious belief into a scientific setting it forces us to apply the scientific method to these beliefs. In doing so it demeans both religion and science.

The designer is Schroedinger's cat. I think the same logic that tells us it may exist allows for it to have had kittens.

ID is very effectively refuted in "The god delusion" by Dawkins. Evolution has done a very nice job in the design of all life forms, thank you.

Actually “The God Delusion” barely touches on I.D. compared to “The Blind Watchmaker”, which was a much better book.

I loved The Blind Watchmaker. I think it's Dawkins' best. In fact it's one of the best popular science books I've read.

YOu read 2 different books than I did. LOL

And Dawkin's book "The God Delusion" was head and shoulders and elbows above "The Blind Watchmaker".

Why, of course they are.

There are his big brother Spaghettoni and little sister Spaghettini. And mama Tagliatelle. There is baby Rigatoni. There are 1st-cousins - Vermicelloni and Vermicelli; and 2nd cousins - Capellini and Capelli d'angelo. There is auntie Fedelini and uncle Sammy Fettuccine. There are whole clan of distant relatives.

Not to mention the set of in-laws: The Crawling Pasta Monsters. :cover: Mother-in-law, named Betty Lasagna.

A whole clan of designers for you to worship.
