Why push your religion on people?

Many reasons... from wanting you to experience God's love, to not wanting you to experience torment in the afterlife...

How can I experience torment in the afterlife if I don't really belive in an afterlife?
I always thought if you lived a good life i.e. not stealing, mudering, molesting, raping, you'd have a good afterlife (if there is one.)

I could've went to church when I was younger, but I didn't, it wasn't pushed on me so maybe I'd have a better understanding of what you're saying. I've tried reading the Bible now that I'm older and I've found WAY too many inconsitancies in it. If God is all powerful and all knowing then he would've known that Eve would eat from the forbidden tree, why put it in the Garden? If He's all powerful and all knowing why'd it take him 6 days to create Earth and everything on it when he could just do it at the snap of a finger?

Fair enough, let me just add that I think you would probably find that the majority of your good morals are consistent with the bibles.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Biblical.
Do not bear false witness. Biblical.

These ideas where not first thought of Biblically, for they certainly existed before being written into the Bible, perhaps the Bible merely seeks to present that which was already accepted as moral truth.

But anyways this only confirms the goodness in you that you would follow these morals without even needing to know a biblical source of them.

That is very true. My Mom went to church as a teen. Not before that though and it was her choice. I learned everything from her.

There are several answers, depending on who you talk to... my personal take is that God's omniscience is a function of His omnipresence... God is present in all times, thus He knows what will happen because it has already happened in perspective. God knew we would eat the tree because we did.

I have had experiences which I can explain in no other satisfactory, and few other logical, way than the existence of a loving personal deity. This deity has done nothing to dissuade my prior belief in the orthodox Christian understanding. Quite the contrary, He responds to Christian prayer and is keenly present in Christian worship... plus He has pulled/pushed/prodded me to the Catholic Church...

Though, I can not truthfully say for certain whether I would or would not believe had I not experienced what I have... I did, however, and thus it is what it is

I've always wanted to know why people try to push their religion on other people.
I've had it done to me a few times and it just majorly upsets me.
I've never asked but I've always wanted to ask them why they think I need religion.
I'm just fine with the way I live and I'm happy in my life.

It is one of the ways in which religious folks validate their own leaps of faith. Especially if they can convert. Other than that, for many it is a source of income.
Yet occasionally, an innocent mind attains some knowledge and for whatever reason wants to share it.

It matterrs how you deffine push too. France denies religious headgear saying that it pushes their religions. Some states in USA do the same with teachers. I've been told by weearing a turban in public I push my belifs on to you.

I have to agree, it wasn't that long ago that I was a kid. Kids are not as pure and innocent as you think. My first kiss was at 5 it was just a peck but still and I knew about sex before I was 5.
