Isn;t debate about presenting a superior argument to prove the antithesis false ? If I speak of God as a fact, doesn´t one who thinks otherwise consider my statement an opinion ? If I show a worshipper of the stick god a better way is that a violation ?***Mod: Reminder that preaching is against rule 8 of forum rules. Be respectful of the minds of other members by not telling them in absolute terms that they are less correct than you. Heartfelt pleadings are no exception. There are multiple religions here, and this uncivil dialogue does not help retain members here and turns into 'You are wrong' 'No you are wrong' very quickly. Obviously when people are arguing different points of view they think the other is probably wrong, but you don't say it in the forum. Its pointless and breaks rule 8. Its one thing to say "I think people who believe such and such are wrong" and another to say "You have swallowed the lie of the serpent" or "You follow the false prophet." etc. Please keep things civil. Say what you think, but say its what you think not what other people have to accept or there is no forum. Use the forum without destroying it. ***
8. Preaching/Proselytizing
Creating (or linking to) content intended to convert/recruit others to your religion, spirituality, sect/denomination, or lack thereof is not permitted. Similarly, attempting to convert others away from their religion, spiritual convictions, or sect/denomination will also be considered a form of preaching. Stating opinions as a definitive matter of fact (i.e., without "I believe/feel/think" language, and/or without references) may be moderated as preaching.
First its in the text of the rule: "Stating opinions as a definitive matter of fact...may be moderated as preaching." I think this rule was already here before I arrived. Its for keeping conversation friendly. Usually a site isn't this strict, but the mission is to keep religions in contact with each other. We'll do whatever it takes, including restricting speech, having everybody smile and say nothing. If that isn't enough to help everyone get along we can all just fingerpaint.Isn;t debate about presenting a superior argument to prove the antithesis false ?
