Why would an atheist would support the Christ Redeemer statue?

It might bring tourism to Brazil.
It is quite impressive and can be seen from a long distance.

I suppose some people might find it overpowering. I found it slightly underwhelming when I was actually close to it that one time long ago. It is not that big.

Far as I know, there isn't a lot of worry about it among Brazilian atheists in general, either.

It is just a statue, after all.

I don't have a son or a daughter. I do have step children. I would sell it, because with that money you could invest in more off springs. Right? Please. Regards.

Would you sell your son, if you had one. What about your parents? Do they have a price too?

How much? Please.

Would I sacrifice my self so my children can have 100B? Probably.

100B? we have quite of an ego, havent we?

But that is not what I asked. What is wrong with people who do not understand simple questions?

If you had a son, would you sell it?

How much?

You don't understand. Why would an atheist who disbelief's in religion of Ibrahim would have full support for the statue of Jesus?
No, you don't understand.

Not being opposed to something is not the same as supporting it. Indifference is a thing, and is something you should try every now and again.

Because we care about people, not 7th century idols.
@LuisDantas would know more than I do. But my understanding is that the enormous majority of Brazilian people love that statue. It's an icon. Even such folks as don't consider it to have religious significance still want it as a symbol of Brazil.

It is quite the postcard. I don't even think of it as a religious icon, personally.

I am fairly sure that very few people actually mind it.
