"Woman arrested after admitting having sex with family dog since 13"

First, I want to shame everyone for abusing the woman based on her looks. Seriously! Shame on you all! It's superficial thinking at its finest.
I also don't think it should be a crime. If she was not abusing the dog, so what? Laws that criminalize behavior you find icky have no place in a proper, modern day society that claims to acknowledge and promote self-determination.

In the last case I just outlined the foster father shot the dog.
That is the only crime that has been mentioned on this thread, though I doubt anything happened to the father who done this monstrous deed.

According to Lake Havasu City Police, Sonnier admitted to having sex with dogs since she was 13-years-old.

I betting based on this some crime was actually done and some one needs to be locked up. I doubt it is either the girl or the dog though.

Having sex with an animal absolutely should be a crime.
It's just so yucky.:confused::confused:
Most know I was a career police officer, detective for 10 of my 22.5 years.
There is justifyable reason to arrest, fingerprint, photo the wierdo and get 'em on record.
I don't advocate jail but do promote serious psychological intervention and here is why.
People that ingage in gross misadventures in a sexual nature are often involved in other serious gross misadventurs.
Note I said GROSS, way extreme events. People that engage in this sort of behavior are emotionally skewed somehow.
Perhaps this poor woman was herself a victim of some kind of abuse, perhaps sexual abuse, in her past and likely needs some help.
Or perhaps a boyfriend with a lot of body hair answering to Fido?:)
Seriously I have been part of investigations of a criminal nature and social services, when needed, would aid in the investigation. It was learned that victims often become victimizers themselves, often seeing nothing at all wrong with victimizing another.
I remember one girl who was sexually abused at a very tender age that was also caught, as a teen, letting Fido to the deed with her as she did oral favors for the pooch.
It is a complexe, perpelxing, issue that needs addressed seriously.
In the last case I just outlined the foster father shot the dog.
Yeah, I know it ain't the dogs fault but when a dog gets accustomed to that sort of sickening behavior the dog can, often does, become cross:mad: and dangerous:mad: as the canine expects that treatment from other humans.
Sick ain't it?
Using law to enforce a particular view of propriety or a particular idea of sanctity, or to to mandate loyalty to a particular group or doctrine is untenable in a modern, diverse, multi-tribal society. It is dangerous, it encourages conflict.

Such a legal concept might be workable in a small tribe of Bedouins, where custom, propriety and law are indistinguishable, but in a civilization law should be strictly utilitarian and reserved for questions of actual harm or for issues of fairness.

What is shocking, or disgusting, or improper is culturally determined and varies tremendously. What is normal behavior to you may be shocking to others - and vice versa.
Enforcing the tastes, behavior or mores of a particular segment of society will only lead to problems.

The charges were later changed to two counts of crimes against nature.

This is an actual charge? Wow. It obviously doesn't cover things like overpopulation, climate change, deforestation, ocean destruction, pollution.. you know.. actual crimes against nature.

Switch out the dog for a five-year-old child and ask the same question.
Okay, I did, now what? Are you seriously suggesting that we regard the two as equals? That animals are on par with humans? Considering what we do to and with them it's obvious we don't.

humans are a type of animal. this statement implies that humans are separate from nature which is illogical & scientifically untrue.
