The quesiton wasn't whether it is right or wrong, the question was whether she over-reacted or was justified in the length and strength of her outburst.

Oh sweet.
I like carrying my knife. And it's legal, as long as it's not a switchblade. But it's gorgeous, has an extra knob on the handle for short targeted strikes on bony landmarks, and is a small blade for easier carry. Plus, I prefer knives because they're quiet and you only need a couple inches to cut to inflict critical injury if necessary.
And you never have to re-load.
I always carry 2 little throwing knives with me. 2.25 inch blades. I had a license to carry a gun in Florida, but these Massachusetts laws...
That's handy. But isn't 2.25 a little too shirt? I've heard vital organs are at least 3 inches deep.

They really hurt, but they're meant more to incapacitate than to kill. But if I really wanted to go for the lethal shot, I could hit you in the neck at 25 feet.

Of course, but by that I mean I feel her reaction was justified. Sure, it could've been executed in multiple different ways, some may have been "better", but I think what she did was fine.
To my knowledge it was an Indian bus too, in which case what she did was *extra* fine. Personally, I wish she was carrying Pepper Spray with her, now that would have been ace.

Puncture wounds are over-rated. A couple of slices on 2-3 major arteries and they're dead in a matter of minutes from blood loss. I prefer short blades, myself.
You can easily incapacitate somebody through slicing tendons in the forearm, or in the Achilles' tendon, if you want them to drop a weapon or be unable to walk, though. That's preferable in non-guerilla warfare situations when you are only in a small one-on-one scenario. But if your attacker(s) are part of a much larger army or organized syndicate, it's preferable to go for the kill so they are unable to offer information of your or your comrades whereabouts.
At least that's how I've been trained so far. Other strategies are available, and I'm non-military. Just have had martial arts, hand-to-hand combat, "street"-level self-defense, and weapons-training. So, take my thoughts with a grain of salt, if you wish.

I haven't read through the entire thread to see if this has been mentioned: there is actually a fetish in which people get their thrills by rubbing their genitals on strangers, and it does occur more frequently in crowded mass transit where it is much less likely to be noticed. I don't remember what it's called though, and couldn't find it in a search. I did learn about macrophilia, which is arousal from giants/esses and I learned that being aroused during natural disasters has a name to it, symphrophilia. And firefox suggested I used necrophilia for both terms.
