World Cup 2014

In soccer, or fußball, why root for the teams when there are so many enthusiastic fans to root for as they tear each other apart limb-by-limb?

But that doesnt happen outside of club football. Save for the crazy people like Turks or Balkan people.

Such big tournaments are usually mostly visited by not so real fans.

Also this is a weird thread.

Hello. I do not think that hooliganism is race specific.

The thread may appear weird, especially probably for Americans. I acknowledge and appreciate that. Football's popularity, OTOH, is because it combines many wholesome aspects of life. It combines athleticism, artistry, sportsman spirit, and pure enjoyment of competition. This thread indeed has no aim and hence may appear weird.

Woah woah iam not American. My country may suck at football but iam not American.

And outside of club football hooliganism/acts of violence can mostly be found on the Balkan at least inside Europe.

Neymar basically saved Marcelo's life in the opening match. :p

I'm happy for Brazil because of the pressure that's currently on them to win the title. It must be pretty tough to handle.

Such shame happens. But Brazilian goalkeeper's pat of consolation is a great thing. A sweet gesture, surely from a nice person.

It hates me, too. I have to remove everything but the video ID thing to get it to show up.

Don't know what your particular problems are, but when I want to post a video from Youtube such as Dr John's - Such A Night, I go to the SHARE function, high-lite and copy the http link, which in this case is

http://youtube/3wG55hfh2w0

Paste it right into the page and make the following adjustments

[youtube]3wG55hfh2w0[/youtube.]

which gives me

I'm not a football fan either, and know very little about it (as my question below should indicate)

usually ( I think) one team passes the ball back and forth waiting for an opportunity to penetrate the defense, it can get a little slow maybe even a little tedious
so are there any teams which focus less on defense and more on attacking, matches between such teams could be fast-paced, running from one goal post to another; making the game more exciting
so, which are some of the more attacking teams, maybe I could watch their games...

You might want to watch any group C game not involving Greece then :p

Spain thrashed 5-1. Awful.

Awful? Best moment of the world cup so far :p

I personally reckon Brazil will win it, although they'll have to play better than they did against Croatia.

Also I hope Japan get out of the group so they can play Italy again after last years match.

Finally thanks to Costa Rica from all the England and Italy fans :D

A particularly bad foul by Uruguay's Maxi Pereira
