The problem is that no one else translates it that way.


I looked at many translations - and not even the Bibles from the 1600's translate this verse that way.


They all translate "parousia" in this case as, return, advent, coming, etc.


Also the way it is being used in your translation, it is still future tense.


When will these things happen - AND - when/what will be the sign of your presence?


It does not say the signs and he are together at the same time.

Jesus would be alongside all the signs he mentioned.

And I own a New testament Greek Dictionary. And as I said I looked at many ancient translations as well as more modern, - none of them translate this sentence as you have. The word can mean "to be" present, or presence "to be"= arrival, and has to be in context to the grammar of the sentence. None of the other translators translate it that way in this sentence.

Also, as I already pointed out - even with the translation you gave, - it is not Jesus with the events. That "and" separates them.

Is it possible that when Jesus said you will see the signs of tribulation when he appears means that when tribulation occurs is when people call on him? So whenever any signs appear that he decribes is when he is near to help you. It isn't about a period of human times that he refers to but is a condition of the psych. "He is not far off from each one" but to know him you must want to know him. People want to know their savior when they think they need one. Tribulation causes a need to know. His words "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God" is related to the fact that his presence is directly related to a person's feelings of NEED.

When Jesus said "when you see these things know I am at the door" he might have meant personally not universally. How do you know he was speaking of a future world wide occurance and wasn't talking about individuals?

Maybe this has already been pointed out, but if it hasn't, the frequency of earthquakes has not been increasing. We actually have thousands of them each and every year.

I think this world is in chaos and every day this is verified with news accounts and events taking place all across the globe.

The news is probably the worst source of information about what's happening in the world. They only depict a world in chaos, because that's what gets the most viewers. Remember that Roland Emmerich's nonsensical disaster films are super-successes.

The overall number of natural disasters throughout the world has not really had any unprecedented fluctuations for the past 2000 years.

Regarding Earthquakes, based on the data collected by US Geological Survey (that is, the people who have the real numbers), the number of Earthquakes the past couple of decades is actually decreasing:

Ebola is a terrible disease, and my heart goes out to all the afflicted countries in Africa, but that's hardly apocalyptic or any sign of a coming one. It's not unprecedented, either. The Black Death wiped out a quarter of Europe's population, and the Smallpox plague was apocalyptic, killing over 90% of the Native American population.

As for that third one... I honestly fail to see the problem?
