World in chaos

I am sure that it is not only religious people who at times inadvertently say things which are not true.
Of course religious people aren't the only ones who inadvertently misspeak. But they are the only ones who misspeak while claiming to know God.

But I don't see anything "inadvertent" about your claim. Your OP included a link to a site with the title "Earthquake Frequency increasing: Rate of strong quakes doubles in 2014".
That is quite deliberate on your part.

Harold Camping was just as certain as you are. And that mess wasn't "inadvertent" either. He believed that God and the Bible couldn't be wrong. But they were, two or three times.
I think it would be more beneficial for you to find out about God from God Himself, rather than determine that His existence is fiction based on human shortcomings. I'm sure God is not dependent upon me to verify His existence or the truth of the scriptures, if they are indeed His word.
I agree, God has let me know everything an Omnimax Entity wants me to know. Doesn't include anything about Jesus or end times. And since God and I get along just fine, we really don't need humans telling me what God means, wants, or thinks.

Still there are humans who go on and on about it.

Well, that's fine if you prefer your own predictions, but I prefer the to trust the biblical prophecies and words of Jesus.

What I cited was not my own prediction but that whereas there's scientific evidence for.

Not so. I and the Christians I know are actively choosing to address problems and live in ways which offer solutions. There is a huge difference between resignation and cheering on the end of the world (as you are implying) and hoping for the return of Christ to save the situation which will actually bring eternal solutions.

I wonder why you are actively addressing problems and offering solutions if that will only delay Jesus comeback with His eternal solution, whatever that might be.

Well you said.. "My prediction about the end: we will all croak and die when our Milky War crashes into the Andromeda Galaxy in about 10 or so billion years, or maybe somewhat before that."

I don't think the return of Jesus will be delayed one way or another since I believe He will return precisely at the perfect moment to usher in His kingdom. Nevertheless, I believe I am responsible for making wise choices and living in a way that honors God and shows good stewardship for His creation and I think everyone will be held accountable.

Yes, which is the prediction by cosmologists based on the drift of the two galaxies.

The scriptures are clear that no one knows the day or the hour of Christ's return (Matt. 24:36; 25:13 and Mark 13:32). Harold Camping was a false teacher/prophet who set specific dates three times for the return of Jesus Christ. So his actions were contrary to the scriptures. This means he was wrong, not the Bible or God.

Jesus said to "Watch" because it will be evident when the end is near to those paying attention, which is totally different than setting a date...

“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Matthew 24:32-33

The scriptures are clear that no one knows the day or the hour of Christ's return

Which was just circular thinking because this was written a long time after his death, and they noticed nothing was happening, and no end was in sight.

So they wrote this in to protect their own book in case it the claim never happened.

Imagine that it never did.

And many passages claim it would happen very very soon .

Apocalypticism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jesus was an apocalyptic prophet, preparing his fellow Jews for the imminent end of the world.

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand"

Jesus spoke of the signs of "the close of the age" in the Olivet Discourse in Mat 24 (and parallels), near the end of which he said, "[T]his generation will not pass away until all these things take place" (v. 34).

It says none can know the day or hour -only the Father.

However, there are some very definite time frames given for end-time events, and it says things will become more clear as the time approaches.

General trends are listed -knowledge increasing, increased travel, pestilence, earthquakes, war, etc. -but the rise and fall of kingdoms/rulers are a more specific indicator of the end times.

Daniel even gives specific numbers of days between certain events in the end times -in addition to the general outline of the rise and fall of the major kingdoms/rulers from Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon to what will soon become of the E.U. -after which begins the reign of Christ on earth.

Furthermore, a general outline of what might be described as World War III is also given -which is to say the interactions and warfare between the west and its allies, the E.U., Russia and China, the Islamic nations..... all leading to the armies of the earth which remain being gathered to war with each other in the valley of Meggido -then turning to actually attempt to war with the returning Christ.

When these nations/rulers are identified, one can very much know how close we are to "the end of the age".

I'll add to this when I'm on a pc -not good at this ipad thing

I read that article, it is very strange indeed. It is authored by nameless 'Newsroom Staff', who begin by stating that earthquakes have doubled recently - but give no supporting data. It then introduces an expert; Thorne Lay, a seismologist who does not say a single word to support the claim of a doubling of earthquakes - in fact not a word of the entire rest of the article after the initial claim either supports or even relates to it.

Strange to write an article that begins with an amazing claim - that earthquakes have doubled, and then does not even attempt to explore, evidence or discuss that claim in any way whatsoever for the entire rest of the article, and the expert seismologist who is being reported on does not say a word to support that initial claim.

So an article titled 'A global surge in earthquakes' simply makes that claim and then does not even attempt to back it or support it.

I think this world is in chaos and every day this is verified with news accounts and events taking place all across the globe. I believe this is a strong indication pointing to the end of the age and the soon return of Jesus Christ.

It actually points the the fact that Christ has already returned

'What will be the SIGN OF YOUR PRESENCE and of the conclusion of the system..?"

If someone is 'present', it means they have arrived... and that is why the world is in chaos because said when he arrives there will be 'great tribulation' on earth.

If someone is 'present', it means they have arrived... and that is why the world is in chaos because said when he arrives there will be 'great tribulation' on earth.

When I use the the word chaos I'm not equating it with the Tribulation period spoken of in the scriptures which will be a time period worse than any other time in history ...For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. Matthew 24;21-22

The scriptures plainly say that Christ arrives...after the tribulation...Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:29-30

I think if you believe Jesus has invisibly arrived you are believing the lie of the Watchtower, but not the truth of the scriptures..Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Matthew 24:23-27

Jesus said he would be present in Kingdom power and his disciples would know it when they saw the fulfillment of the 'signs' ... note what he said:

Matt 24:3 While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?” 4 In answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads you, 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 You are going to hear of wars and reports of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for these things must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

Further to these signs appearing when Christ is present, he also said in vs 14
"this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all nations" before the conclusion of the system.

In Vs 15 he goes onto say that there will be this 'great tribulation' that follows all of the above signs and this tribulation is so sever that if God did not step in to put an end to it, 'no flesh would be saved', iow, we would all be dead:
15 “Therefore, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken about by Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place (let the reader use discernment), 16 then let those in Ju·de′a begin fleeing to the mountains. 17 Let the man on the housetop not come down to take the goods out of his house, 18 and let the man in the field not return to pick up his outer garment. 19 Woe to the pregnant women and those nursing a baby in those days! 20 Keep praying that your flight may not occur in wintertime nor on the Sabbath day; 21 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.

So really, all the preceeding verses about the wars, famines, earthquakes and preaching of the Good News has to come before the great tribulation. Those aspects of the sign are already happening right now.... and that means that Jesus is already ruling in the kingdom. But Alas, so many have failed to grasp this truth... they have become like the sleeping virgins who failed to remain awake when the bridegroom arrived!

I think if you believe Jesus has invisibly arrived you are believing the lie of the Watchtower, but not the truth of the scriptures..

The truth of the scriptures are posted above. Christs presence signals the beginning of the 'pangs of distress' (earthquakes, wars, famines) but amid all this world distress, there will also be a group of united christians actively proclaiming the 'good news of the kingdom'

then the great tribulation will break out on earth and all mankind will be in serious peril! That time is so close if only people would pay attention before it strikes.

Sure, but it doesn't mean that god DOES speak through people either - and we have no reason to believe he does. How else would a pure spirit manifest you ask? Well I doubt that it exists to manifest.

I would say the good gives us good reason to think so. If you believe in goodness reflect very deeply about where that comes from.

The problem is that no one else translates it that way.

I looked at many translations - and not even the Bibles from the 1600's translate this verse that way.

They all translate "parousia" in this case as, return, advent, coming, etc.

Also the way it is being used in your translation, it is still future tense.

When will these things happen - AND - when/what will be the sign of your presence?

It does not say the signs and he are together at the same time.

I would disagree. I see no evidence whatsoever that believers demonstrate more 'goodness' than non believers. Why would human 'goodness' need an external source?

I live in a country where there is relative peace...ie no civil war or conflicts, but we still have high levels of violence and domestic violence and child abuse... and while i dont personally experience it, i certainly do feel it and the fact that its happening around me does affect me greatly.

So yes, even though im not personally experiencing it, i am still personally affected by it.
