So be honest please. Would you support such regimes under such circumstances?
Assuming I were a product of their society at the time and were in their situation, I probably would have supported such a regime. Kind of like how most Americans are supportive of democratic politics (not necessarily the Democratic Party): we are products of a society that champions such politics.
I'd give you a big hug and then drag you into a paddy wagon. And tell you you're going on a camping trip.
That'd work on me. When a friend or loved one says, 'She's taking you to a prison,' my response would be, 'I thought so initially, but then the nice lady said "camping trip." You gotta learn to listen to people in uniforms.'
Anti-Semitism and Fascism are not synonymous. but have become so in peoples minds.
I recall reading that there were Italian Jews in the National Fascist Party. For Italian fascists, what was important was not so much purity of blood but being Italian. Also, I remember reading that when Mussolini saw Hitler in person for the first time, Mussolini said to another Italian, 'I don't like that man.' Another thing I remember is that Mussolini eventually became anti-Semitic due to Nazi influence. And yeah, people today think of fascism and anti-Semitism as synonymous. This is probably because of the association of Nazism with fascism. It is unfortunate that this is the case because, as everyone knows by now, Mediterraneans are superior to Germanics in every way with the exception of making automobiles.
