" Did you know that in China it is ILLEGAL to be a Christian, own a Bible, or attend church?"
But it is not. The Roman Catholic Church exists in China with a diplomatic agreement that the Church will appoint Chinese to posts as Bishops and such.
The rub is where protestant denominations try to go against the public policy for one child families. Those churches are given stumbling blocks.
Now it's wrong to do what they do, but it is not illegal to be a Christian or own a Bible.
I am contemplating teaching in China, when I go there are limitations placed upon me as a Baha`i. The Baha`i administrative order is not established in China because Baha`i administration must have confidentiality and China requires reports on minutes of institutions.
I will be able to teach the faith privately, but no public proclamation is allowed under Chinese law. And I will not be allowed to bring it up in the curriculum I teach officially in class. I will be able to have my prayerbook and religious books with me, but they will probably be digital to come in under the weight limitations that air travel to China demands.
