Hmm, I don't think you were really. Not to the point where it was mean or anything like that lol. Maybe frustrated? But not like grr mean mean mean or something. But, like I said from past experience the comments sections on news stuff can be out right nasty and just fighting so I generally avoid them. Then I had this thought well I should take a look and I was like damn. It was pretty chill and people had good information and even with links. I was really shocked. Lol.
Lol that's good.
Yeah comment sections have a notoriously bad reputation. But they can be a good source of information as well. Don't let your fears or biases keep you from looking for the truth.
Well, I stay away from stuff online. On forums I come here, Reddit, and this pop culture forum but other wise I don't have the time. I have people on yt who I like to watch but that's it. I used to be on tumblr but even then it was Kpop and beauty/fashion stuff I used to reblog and stuff. So, if it's not on Reddit or on any of the political type of channels I watch (from biased to not) I don't see it.
I try to. I always seem to get dragged into **** though. At first it was for merely asking questions to radical combative feminists. Then it was for merely interjecting into hate mobs trying to calm people down. But I've decided to fight, at least in the Gaming Online Community. Because I am sick of casual females giving gamer girls bad reputations. And boy is your press against the gamers. No outlet, no matter how prestigious or political affiliation, seems to be above lying or selective truth about Gamer Gate. There was even an episode of Law and Order SVU, trying to do a semi commentary that just painted gamers as having these roving packs of sub humans, trying to rape as many women as possible intermingled amongst them. And they tried to say that it was just part of the culture.
And then these idiots wonder why the gamers hit back with sexist ****, fake or otherwise. Treat people like ********, you'll probably get ******** in return. It's a sad mess, really.
And usually here it is from conservatives and they are known to lie. I suggest you google James O'Keefe. He's a punk and he's lied so much. He was even going to have a young woman who worked with him raped and it was going with some plan to discredit her because she was going to go talk to the media about his bs. He does these ridiculous "pranks" to get people mad and rilled up and makes these claims about liberals or anyone left leaning and they're all lies. He tried to bug a Senators office and got caught but never had any prison time. Imagine that. He's just one example but the most well known one.
Oh I do not doubt that there are Cons who lie. But I haven't seen much evidence that it's only the Cons. But again, I am not really familiar with your political climate. Only saying that even internationally known "Liberal outlets" have been caught lying as well. At least I think they're Liberals?
I seem to remember our News Outlets being quite astounded that a lady by the name of Katie Couric misinforming the public about HPV vaccines. It was a little "wtf America" segment. I assume she was taken to task? Eghh, news and medicine rarely mix well.
But it'll take too long to list all the examples. Especially in regards to again, gaming in general. I'm quite glad our news often doesn't have the time of day for that hobby, tbh.
My indolence strikes again. My bad.
Yeah it was just a naked woman with the typical sexualization of a blonde hair woman with big boobs. I understand why someone might not like it but eh it's nothing really to get worked up over. Let's say I worry more about ladybugs and ants this time of year than some guys tshirt. But yeah I didn't see anything about him getting fired. Just people being hyper sensitive.
Exactly!! It's like meeting your ultimate iedol as he gives the most inspiration speech to you and then fretting that he/she has a piece of broccoli in their teeth. At that point I would think there would be bigger fish to fry.
Have you heard of a site called Gawker? They're a filthy piece of rumor mill trash posing as online Journalists. They make the Tabloids seem noble by comparison. Truly sickening people.
Well among other such wonderful endeavors like outing gay people publicly, lying (remember the Hulk Hogan scandal. That was their doing, it was an out of context soundbite or whatever. And I think last time I heard he was suing they for libel and defamation of character.) Their baby site the Verge who supposedly talk about "womens/feminist issues" (blech! as if) were stirring up the pot in the whole "shirtgate" ordeal. Screaming out loud about this stupid shirt.
http://www.theverge.com/2014/11/13/7213819/your-bowling-shirt-is-holding-back-progress
The very definition of "fainting couch feminism." Is there an emoticon on here to show one throwing up? Because I think most real feminists should be ashamed of **** like this being in the public as "feminist." Makes us look like weak crybabies, imo.
Sincerely, **** the Verge and the Jezabel and those other spawn of Gawker sites. Not only a blight on journalism and feminism, but a blight on humanity as well.
He is 89 so yeah that matters too lol. He's a grandpa. But yeah I don't get British humor so... but reading the last part of his quote it doesn't make it as bad as if you just saw the first part about it.
Yeah, British humor can often come across as shocking. You just have to take what a lot of the Brits say with a grain of salt. Because usually they're pretty awesome people.
Yes, reading a full quote as opposed to the snippet that some Journos jumped on really shows you how easy it is to manipulate to conversation or mischaracteristic someone. In a more just world, he should have sued them for character assassination and kept his position. Sigh. But maybe he's just too old and tired.
Oh I have seen Monty Python. I enjoyed the Life of Brian one a lot. That one is so funny. I forgot about that being British. I do have English ancestry too lol. One of my ancestors was an executioner at the Tower of London and my family has a castle in England.
Love Monty Python. Got a collection of all their movies lol
Oh that's an interesting bit of heritage.
My Grandparents on my father's side are Brits.
I haven't heard about this whole yt thing. Are they US people? The yt channel TYT (The Young Turks) talk about stuff online too and I haven't even heard of them covering about it and they do stories like that too. Shrug. But if it's this yt drama crap I'm like...no...let me go over here. I appreciate you finding the links but I don't even wanna try. I've seen drama in the "beauty community" and even that confuses me and I'm like: why?
The lady (who is still breaking the law. She tried to intimidate fans of her opponent by using the FBI symbol presumably without permission to say she was coming after those who commented. Who, by the way, were just reacting to her outright vile subhuman antics. I assume that's illegal in America?) is an American. Her opponent, the one who was mocked for losing his dad to cancer, seriously I know I harp on about that, it just sickens me to the core, is a British man.
Funny thing about the TYT I didn't know at first that they considered themselves Journos. I thought they were just really well produced VLoggers. Like a little subsidiary sect of a Journo company trying to reach the online community. Because I'll be honest, they seem really biased.
Oh yeah even here right wingers confuse Sikhs with brown skinned people who are following Islam. There have been a couple of attacks here (physical beatings) from right wingers on Sikh men because they thought they were Muslim. Sigh. I don't think Al Jazeera would make that mistake since they are based from Qatar and are from the middle east as an organization so I think they would know the difference. If I had to bet it was Sky news (Murdoch).
To be fair, unless you are Indian/Punjabi or of Middle Eastern descent (or have close friends who are) it is sometimes hard to tell the difference. The Arabs and the Indians have long swapped ideas and even clothing to a certain extent. Although it's obvious once you notice the differences, to an average middle class white person who doesn't know any Sikhs or Muslims, I could see where they would get confused. The turbans and the bushy beards on a brown person carry quite the significant connotations. It's the nuance that makes it easier to tell.
It was most likely Sky News. lol
