let's just say you caught a glimpse of the Someone who did a very bad thing
pick any scenario you want

but your going to point the finger at Satan....or the Devil.....

what does the Evil One look like to you?
I'd point my finger at the person doing the bad thing, and hold them responsible to their own actions instead of a 'devil made me do it.' So I guess the devil looks like whomever did the bad thing.

I am not talking about the object of the organization. The prophet isn't the danger. It's the organization itself.

I happen to believe in spiritual life
and even the Carpenter is said to have walked through hell....three days

no chance of meeting Someone?.....who might want you ...........dead

good point

but as for the person whose hand was in play....
won't he point the finger and insist.....the devil made him do it

given sure.....we do as our thoughts justify
we do as our hearts desire

but is there not a devil?

Personally, I don't believe in a devil in the spiritual sense of an actively independent intelligence tempting man to do bad things. I think people lose sight of their empathy, and place value on short sighted gains for themselves. They tempt themselves.

yeah....we have desire ....we have greed
do you blame the devil for that?

or should we recognize our desires can be used against us?

I believe Man is indeed caught in a tragic play
freewill is applied and will not be reduced

we are free to follow our will .....
our hands do as we think we should
or because we feel like it

So the devil does not interfere? as in the book of Job
the devil makes no play.....in your life?

if not!.... you can only blame yourself.....should you fall short of grace

but let's play this thread as is
there IS a devil.....of spiritual life

and when your chemistry fails and your spiritual life begins....
will it be the devil standing over you?
as you attempt to stand from the dust

In this specific scenario described, one in which I clearly saw someone do a "very bad thing", and therefore know exactly who is to blame, the moment I pinned it on Satan (instead of where the blame should necessarily lie) is the moment when I believe the "Evil One" would look a lot more like myself.

but of course I am taking aim at the Maestro in the background
that Fellow who entered Judas and led him to the Pharisees.....
Vilifying Judas is irrational.
Jesus Himself picked him to be the linchpin in the Salvation story. Jesus told him to go do it. If Judas had failed in that mission Jesus would have had to draft someone else, or there would be no Salvation.

The treatment of Judas in the story is good evidence that it was made up by humans with some human agenda.

It looks exactly like the face of the person who did the evil thing, and rationalized it by saying to himself, "My ego is all I need to justify my moral double standard".

If I see someone doing a bad thing, then I will call the police. People that do crimes don't look the same. The blank-and-white striped pajamas are cliche.

No.
I blame Our Creator.

Whether God or evolution made us as we are, we're kinda stoopid and have the instinctive behavior of an ape. Sometimes, to a degree, we learn better. But mostly not all that well. Morality is when we do learn better, immorality is when we don't.
Morality is from humans, immorality is from God.

no spiritual life?
No greater evil than yourself? (or maybe you can point a finger?)
Evil doesn't exist outside of the human mind. You see a thing, or an action, you deem it as evil. The entire process is inside your mind.

The universe doesn't care. Things either are, or are not. Beyond that it's a matter of taste.

217 people did a bad thing yesterday. The Devil definitely wears a suit and lies all the time.

The part of the person that was evil I guess?

People don't usually say the devil made him do it, normally it's "the devil made me do it", but the other guy, no we want him to go to jail and pay for His crimes. In dreams sometimes the devil looks like the cover of a DIO album.
