Your local loco.
Your title says: Your chance to guide me to God!

You also bring up having been a Christian.

So, I propose that we do this: in order to help you find “God”, let’s first examine and perhaps lead you away from your current conception of God.

The Problem of Evil is what ultimately led me away from Christianity.
The PoE is this: if there is an omnipotent/omniscient/omnibenevolent God (such as the biblical God) then why is there suffering?

The Bible offers its own solution to the PoE, one which I find wholly unsatisfactory. The book of Job is centered around the PoE, so I recommend starting there. We can explore that book together if you’d like! I have a Yale in depth commentary version of Job that I can reference. Essentially though, to simplify it, the Bible’s answer to the PoE is: who are we to ask why does evil exists? We are worms…

Is this a conversation you would be interested in?

Hi anarchist. Discussing Job I might be interested in.
I do agree that this oldest book of the Bible deals with the problem of evil.
Or I would say it deals with the problem of WHY bad things happen to good people.

However, I would say the answer to the problem is not in the book of Job.
I would say that for all the argument, discussion, debate of Job's three friends with Job no solution is presented.
I would say even when Elihu follwed by God Himself speaks still no answer to WHY Job is suffering is given!

Now God finally speaks but gives Job no answer that I can see at all.
God in so many words only says in essence "Job I know what I'm doing. You're without knowledge of it. But at least you
are not a wrong as your three friends who have offended Me with their folly."

So I would say the ANSWER to the problem the book of Job introduces is not found in Job.
I'll wait for your reply before I offer WHERE the answer to the problem can be found in the Bible.

Hi ElytBlank. Your intro is interesting and inviting.
I am a Christian and rather new to this Forum.

And one of the rules is we're not suppose to "convert" people.
If you come back to the Lord Jesus someone may get into trouble.

Maybe the best I can contribute is to give you something of my own experiences with backsliddeness.
Like "This is how I went through this kind of situation."

What do you think?

Which God/dess do you want to be guided to?

Why do the Gods have to have had a hand in creating what is around us ? They are as much attached to it as we are.

The problem with the Job story is God's appalling morality ─ wanton cruelty, multiple murders of innocents, persisting long term with the suffering ─ and all for a barroom bet with [his] sidekick Satan. (Satan, at that point in the bible, is one of God's courtiers, not yet the later version, the Christian villain.)

I grew up a devoted Christian too. I loved Jesus and all the wonderful biblical stories. I became disillusioned when in assembly one day at school, the brother of the Catholic school told us that Jews were our enemies. Eventually I left religion and became an atheist because every religion I came across condemned other religions and non believers as if they weren’t human until I came across Baha’u’llah and Baha’i which says to love all humanity and all religions unconditionally. I felt that I couldn’t identify myself with any group which preaches superiority or exclusiveness but I could easily take on an identity as a person who loved all both atheist and religionist, humanist and non believers. I decided that’s who I want to be, a universal person who accepts all humanity as my family.

Yeah man that's cool and all
Bur it sounds like you left religion because you didn't like the way your church behaved.
Bad people can still tell the truth,
So if I'm trying to find the truth I can't determine it based on how people act.To explain better, it doesn't matter how kind I am to my neighbor I won't ever be able to conjur up a chair.

Not liking the answers you find doesn't make them untrue,if God at one point kills everyone and then the next day saves everyone and tells us not to worry about it because we can't understand
It might make you angry
But it doesn't disprove God

Bigotry against other religions is not truth. It’s inhumane to demonise others because of their race, religion or nationality and it’s going on everywhere all over the world. The only solution I believe is for us all to learn to love all humanity no more us vs them. Complete inclusiveness.

What evidence do you have that god even exists in the first place?
Science says everything has an explanation And can not provide several explanations without breaking its own rules completely

Religion says everything has an explanation but we are to foolish to understand in our current form

If a mathematican hangs a black man in the street it does not make math a lie.
It makes the mathematician a bad person,it also still sounds like your bashing your beliefs of your morals not logic or evidence.

First, that’s not what science says. Second, you didn’t answer my very simple question.
I see, your correct rather than answer why I belive there is a god I awnsered why I don't belive in science,I apologize for my misunderstanding.

I am certain there is a God because of the fact that infinite energy in an Infinitely small space is impossible if nothing exists and thus we couldn't have came from somewhere
And obviously we didn't come from nowhere.
Even if,however the laws of the universe were unfathomably different at some point before nothing we now exist in a world with a defined structure.
This means the Laws of the universe defaulted without reason to ours.
Aswell,if we came from nothing all at once the universe would be equal parts dark and normal matter and thus cease before it expanded far enough to spread out.
After we weasle out these things, rocks still have to form from different chemicals
Which has to develop a healthy enough ecosystem to support life which is Jumpstarted by something unknown and has never been replicated in a lab despite creating world destroying bombs.
Not only that, intelligence species happened for what seems like no reason,it's also belived by almost all religions at some point there was a worldwide flood, this would not have been survived without divinity.
The universe had 14 billion years to create life I took us less than 1000 to enter space so if there are other species out there (which with that much time and that simple of a process that life can form on our hostile planet should be guaranteed)they should have found us.
