"Elect President John Adams Again"

There's nothing in the Constitution that says a president must be alive during the election process. So what happens then is that the moment the dead president is elected, their VP becomes president. Its never been done, so I think we should try it. I think we should run John Adams, because he is one of the most popular deceased presidents.

One of my favorite things about this website is that it gives you direct access to label your religion directly. A few months ago I purposed an idea which the same thing could be done but for political status too, to the admins and moderators of this website. It was shot down because this is Religious Forums, not Religious and Political Forums, even though there are some users who frequent the political forums more often than the religious ones.

The purpose of this thread isn't to complain that I didn't get my way. There is that empty space under religion status that I thought could be used for this, but it's fine that it isn't. I still value this website greatly, and there are other ways to declare your political status other than an official status marker of such as part of your profile. One of them was to vote for and participate in a this thread I made several months ago. There's also this thread, which is also bookmarked.

But let's just say that my idea went through and you were allowed to have a politics status as part of your overall profile. What would you have typed in your political status, if anything?

To clear the area as to my political positions I would probably have "Centrist" or "Federalist" in my status. I side with the Republican Party more often than not, but if the Reform Party were more viable I'd probably lend my vote to that instead of the Republicans. I refused to vote for Trump for President so I voted for the Libertarians instead for President, Jo Jorgenson and before that Gary Johnson.

(By the way, I am not trying to violate rule two, the topic of this discussion is to discuss different political statuses, not the argue over the moderation or decisions of the staff here on this forum. I am fine that my idea was shot down. I just want to use this space as a way of communicating the same idea, in thread format rather than profile format.)
Conservative, Traditionalist, Western nationalist, etc.

I agree with the many who stated that labels are ... problematic. But if I had to, I'd put Anarcho-Syndicalist as ideal and radical democrat (not the US party) as current working model. Wait ... That's already too much for a label. So, yeah, it's complicated.

We could just measure people by how often they agree with me.
That can work across all dimensions.
Religion, politics, briefs vs boxers, favourite Spice Girl, etc.

Centrist. I'm fiscally fairly conservative and socially moderate. It's hard to find candidates because most of them now are extremists, left and right.

Sounds like an oxymoron. Libertarian and Socialist?

It's it's own thing.

Libertarian simply meaning "non-authoritarian" and socialism meaning socialism. There's nothing preventing us from having a society that is at the same time non-authoritarian and yet still socialist. There is a such thing as "voluntary socialism"... and in the end, I think this is the kind of system that will win out.

I'm no fan of labels. On some issues I lean right, on most others I lean left. Left leaning works for me
Is it a label, or a category? To say "label" seems to suggest something that isn't reflected by fact, and more about ideals. I'm a Social Democrat and I see that as a category.

This is sort of how I identify politically. Philosophically, I believe that humans do best when they are free to make their own choices but must consider the consequences of these actions. I believe this works best in small communities.

However, in our modern world where we continue to expand both in population and technology, I think some sort of Democratic-socialism makes the most practical sense.

The problem with "centrist" is that the center won't stand still, as @exchemist pointed out. Here in the states, it's been shifting to the right for several decades, so that yesterday's conservative would be labeled liberal by many, today.
"Extremist" is also problematic, for much the same reason.

Serious Q: What leftist policies would you consider extreme, today?

At this point, Center Left on the American scene. "Liberal" in the international sense.

I try to pick out the good from just about any platform.

I side with elective politics and comdem compulsary politicking.

I endeavor for a balance ideally that maximize freedoms both personal and economically.
