This is because France has a very strict secular policy which is not just directed at Muslims, but at all practitioners of all faiths. School is a uniform environment where everyone is expected to look and dress the same regardless of religion, race, etc. This applies to Christians too, as well as Jews, Sikhs, Jains, Satanists, Jedis, Lolitas and whoever else. School is not the place for religion in France; it is a secular establishment with secular norms. This isn't just against Muslims.
Second, while I disagree about the disc wearing too, it's still hardly the same thing as being taxed for being Islamic and also the Jewish students would have had to wear them too. So again this is not just about Islam.
Also, when in Rome. If you come to Europe, we Europeans expect you to dress and act like Europeans, to blend in and assimilate, or else don't come here.
Lastly, this is in response to Muslims going and shooting cartoonists for no reason. So they drew Muhammad. Nobody cares. Charlie Hebdo satirises everything, not just Islam. Did any Christians go shoot up shop? No. Jews? No. It's only Muslims who become violent over a stinking cartoon. Then you wonder why Europeans distrust you.
This can be said for any country, not just Scotland. So I'm not responding to this because it's obvious.
Who is oppressing Muslims? There are over 1000 Masajid in the UK and Channel 4 blasted the call the prayer during Ramadan once. Some oppression.
can you buy christmas trees in your country ?I was speaking about this thread, not UK or Honolulu.
That is much the same way here. In USA drinking alcohol is not frowned upon, unless you are driving drunk, or beating your wife in a drunken rage, or spending all your money on alcohol while your family does without, and so on. However there are many Christian denominations such as the one I grew up in that considers drinking alcohol as a beverage sinful, yet at the same time does not mean a person is not a Christian.I don't get your question (about three times) ?
if you meant drinker :
in our country (Algeria) don't punish the drinker , but we consider him as sinner
And that is irrational and against the freedom of choice, what if a Muslim school forced all students to wear the Hijab ? whats your opinion will be ?
And Jizya isn't for the Christians,it's for Jews too, does that make it any better ?!
So if a European woman came to a Muslim country then she has to wear Hijab or else don't come here, that doesn't make sense.
That was long before shooting the cartoonists, so no relation between this crime and the mistreatment of Muslims in Europe
And because it can be said for any country, so it's OK, but if Muslims alone then it'll be a bad thing that Muslims do.
I agree. What one persons true Christian is, is another persons heretic.A true Muslim? According to who? Can you please make sense next time you talk?
That's like saying Catholics insisting Protestants aren't "true" Christians or Reform Jews aren't "true" Jews because they don't believe in eating just kosher food. Let them practice what they wish to practice.
My first thought upon reading this was, "That's ridiculous. It's a suicidal plan." Then I instantly realized that Iran is controlled by what can be described as an apocalyptic doomsday faction in Shiite Islam and that hastening of doomsday (for them and sadly, many others) could be a possibility. Clearly Russia would not be in support of them disrupting the Saudi oil fields... then again... *shivers*... Russia and Iran are both competing oil producers... AAArrrgggghhhhh. I'm not saying I agree with you, but it is a loopy enough idea to appeal to the crazies who are actually running Iran.It seems a little far fetched doesn't it YmirGF . But at the sametime the supreme leader of Iran does not consider the Suna folks true Moslem. They are like the Mormans to the rest of traditional Christianity because they have two religious scriptures. The true followers of Islam follow only one holy scripture. Now if you add that understanding to the OP that Rival is presenting because "peace" is ment to be between the followers of Islam not between Islam and those that worship false gods or those that have any other holy scripture, then things may get interesting. The Sunni consider the Shia Moslem but the Shia do not consider the Sunni Moslem. The supreme leader of Iran (Shia) considers the most holy site in Islam now under the control of not true Moslems. Now all of the major world leaders in todays world know this and all of the followers of Islam in the middle east know this, but nobody has been worried about it because Iran has never been allowed to park an army any where near Mecca. But now because of the political climate in Iraq and Syria and because of Rival's OP being correct Iran now has permission to begin parking an army in two locations next to Mecca. On top of that Iran now has the backing of the military might of Russia.
The game is afoot and there is nothing that the US and the other major free world countries can do about it.
Rival's OP is right on , it is just that her OP is not politically correct in today's world.
I was speaking about this thread, not UK or Honolulu.
None. When it comes to religion and bad behavior, it's like smoking and lung cancer. Sure, not all smokers get lung cancer, but a lot of them do and if you smoke enough you're bound to get it.
So some people can puff a little religion and it makes them feel good, and we see no ill effects. But many others display cancers such as xenophobia, homophobia, hatred/distrust of other religions, negative views of human sexuality, etc. When mob mentality is added to the mix due to a Theocratic environment, we see widespread violence and brutality like we see is Islamic theocracies today.
Make no mistake, we'd see the same thing if we had Christian theocracies. The only reason the wingnuts in this country aren't murdering homosexuals as Kansas pastor Curtis Knapp recently suggested we should, is because our secular society protects us from religious based law. Only secularism protects us from the same type of "culture" (driven by religion) that we see dominating and ruining the Middle East and swallowing up Europe.
Religion does not bring peace. Religion does not make people good. Religion serves only the individual that follows it.
Yes, this happened in IraqAnd that is irrational and against the freedom of choice, what if a Muslim school forced all students to wear the Hijab ? whats your opinion will be ?
Muslims do not migrate to Saudi ArabiaSo if a European woman came to a Muslim country then she has to wear Hijab or else don't come here, that doesn't make sense.
At this time we don't have the draftin a country where you are likely to be drafted for Military service, would you consider paying a tax to be exempt from being drafted??
It's the Religion.
The attack on the painter who painted chapters of the Koran and the words of a transfer and in her body imageThat was long before shooting the cartoonists, so no relation between this crime and the mistreatment of Muslims in Europe
Rival, my dear, why do you feel the need to attack the Islamic religion?
If a Muslim school in an Islamic land did that then fine. If it were in France I would be against that, because this is France, secular France, not Islamistan.
No, it means jizyah is still religious discrimination. This is NOT what France is doing. France has a SECULAR policy which favours NO religion at all.
Yes, yes it does make sense. "When in Rome do as the Romans do" is a well known phrase. If one moves country, one should assimilate.
I was talking about the pigs heads and so on. That was in response to that.
You may not like it, but so what? And it's not just against Muslims. Where are you getting this idea that Europe is against Muslims?!
How is this thread oppressing Muslims?
Report me if you seriously think that!
This is about ISLAM, not Muslims.
