But there is no "other side" of the expanse of the space "where the flood water" once was located.

Regarding the "flood in question", you have to be familiar with the ancient language in mythology where the Milky Way itself was percieved and described allegorical as a "River in Heaven" "running" all OVER and AROUND the Earth.

This mythical description of the celestial river/flood above the human heads was once priestly and scholarly misconcieved and misinterpreted to be a "flood running ON the Earth" as a (stupid) divine revenge right after "god" created everything, which in itself also is a stupid thing, invented by priests in order to govern the populations.

In context then, the stars were put in the expanse. It was called heaven.
