Christians: why blame atheists for not “choosing” to believe in god?

I made that statement to explain why I felt it necessary in the first place to try to understand who God was and the reason and purpose he gave to my life. I had already stated that I have done more than my fair share of looking into religion and spirituality, after extensive searching, the...

Christians: why blame atheists for not “choosing” to believe in god?

Not really, its necessary to read the words in the context they were written, after all, laffy taffy got what I meant. I have a feeling you couldn't wait to post that link onto the next person that mentioned a closed or open mind :) again, metaphorical but I'll go along with it and agree, as...

Christians: why blame atheists for not “choosing” to believe in god?

Hi Taffy, I don’t base my belief on religious texts either, as I said to before, I always had a belief in God from since I can remember, though this wasn’t impregnated into me as my family is not religious. The reason I said to try to open your mind to the possibility is because it appeared to...

Christians: why blame atheists for not “choosing” to believe in god?

Hey, I wasn't accusing you of being closed minded, I was suggesting that if you 'want' to believe in God as you stated, then open your mind to the possibility, there's a difference. If you're hellbent on not believeing in God then stick to your guns - your choice ;)

why did God kill many people?

I did say...."This question has to be answered as though to someone who believed in god and wanted to understand why there was so much killing in the OT otherwise the answers don’t make sense to an atheist. But anyway…." So this kind of proves my point. BTW no one should be judging, how can one...

    Umm, a Discussion About Hell

Perhaps I should have said that christian and islamic religions have used this as a fear tactic, but there is and always has been enough of them in the world to cause an awful lot of bloodshed wouldn't you say.

why did God kill many people?

This question has to be answered as though to someone who believed in god and wanted to understand why there was so much killing in the OT otherwise the answers don’t make sense to an atheist. But anyway…. God created everything, all was perfect until man defied God and got himself thrown...

    Umm, a Discussion About Hell

With respect, I think this is just a fear tactic on the part of most religions to control the masses and whilst I wholeheartedly agree that it is vital to grow a relationship with God and the christ Jesus, if I thought those same beings were devising an actual place of everlasting sorrow and...

    Umm, a Discussion About Hell

I do not believe a loving God would create a place of eternal torment and I believe the Catholic church are responsible for this hideous concept, as someone referred to previously, its just an adoption of the Greek tartarus. Anyone who does a little research will soon discover that the Catholic...
