Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

I think the position of Ref is a perfect metaphor. I think I'll use that in future debates :D
  2. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

So, ill mark that as a position for, there shouldn't be any discussions of God anyway.

Should Atheists Shut Up about God, since they don't believe in God?

Atheists claim that God does not exist. This goes against everything man has learned about his "soul", or "spirit" and the natural world around us. In a discussion of the nature of God, does an Atheist have anything useful to say? How can you comment on something you don't believe, therefore...

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

If I had known people were that sensitive to the phrase "shut up", I would have used a more child friendly world, like hush. Good "God"

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

exactly :) this is the idea of God that I gather from most theists. That is he does not have to necessarily exist in a tangible, physical sense.

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

if the discussion led to a position of God being just as real, in the minds of the believers, as if he were a physical manifestation? Would you agree, as an agnostic, not as a theist, that it was true?
  7. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

Understand I'm NOT trying to insult agnostics. I think people are more likely to admit a given position if motivated. If the topic were, Should athiests shut up about God, since they don't believe?, it would be the atheists in here insulting me for being a religious zealot. The best discussion...

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

Yep, lots of flaming and underhanded remarks. What of them?
  9. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

lol, while i agree, I think we can't just call it nonsense. Theists have moved God to the realm of the intangible. Like I was saying in the last post, we can't deny he exists philosophically. So, as an agnostic, would you be more likely to to argue that a philosphical god is just as real as a...

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

You don't have an answer do you? It can't be exactly the same as everyone else, you'd have to take every position, all the time.
  11. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

What if a theist proposes the Bible as a form of proof?
  12. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

I had a thread about the philosophy of God. I basically said the same thing. You can't deny that God exists, at least philosophically.

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

Clever insult, but you still never answered the question. What would agnostics offer in a theistic debate, besides the fact we don't know? Why is this so hard for everyone to answer? Guitar's Cry is the only one to answer the question so far. He didn't even have to insinuate I was somehow...

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

I think I've got my answer. Agnostics refuse to stick to the topic, instead professing how much noone knows. What would they have to say in a theistic debate? Not much.
  15. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

Okay but you didn't answer the question. What kind of useful things would you have to say in a discussion of the existence of god?
  16. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

ONCE AGAIN, the point of the question is not to determine whether anyone knows if GOD exists. PLEASE READ THE WHOLE TOPIC. I am interested in knowing whether not having an opinion either way can be useful in a discussion. Don't just get angry and start throwing insults, tell me what you would...
  17. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

The tone of the topic was supposed to be tongue in cheek. I think that opinion would be fairly useful in a discussion, maybe you could elaborate.
  18. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

I am not talking about having proof. You guys are so upset that someone pointed out your position, you're ignoring the question. I never said you should be ashamed of not knowing, or claim to know anything you don't. What I'm asking, is if you believe you have anything to say in a discussion of...
  19. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

This isn't about claiming to know anything. It's about offering an opinion one way or another. I fail to see how having an opinion automatically makes someone pompous and deluded.
  20. Atheologian

Should Agnostics shut up, since they don't know?

Kudos for an honest answer :D But, would you say you have anything useful to say in a discussion of God? Whether he does or does not exist?
