It should be obvious to everyone that no one has ever discovered a soul, or that they have one.
Therefore, it is merely a concept that has evolved over time. It is nothing more than an idea.
Bottom line, most people cannot imagine the idea of death. Where there is actually an end to something that we wish was endless.
Fear of what we can't control, whether it's "terrorism" or death, is the worst fear of 99% of people.
The creation of the soul, can thank this fear.
how is it boastful?
It is obviously boastful to believe that we as HomoSapiens have a unique attribute, such as a soul. We adore ideas that make us unique, or special. Assuming that we have some greater purpose, or connection is very boastful.
Love is real in the exact same way god is "real" to people (not me). It exist in the mind of a person, generally a feeling of unique companionship, we use the word "love" to express our emotion as accurately as possible.
There is no such real thing as "love" other than the word.
I have no proof, you are correct.
I do have one hell of an education, and that is good enough for my publisher. Nothing more to say here, so I'll move to another thread.
What you call the immaterial existence of you and I are nothing more than a set of bio-chemical reactions. The virtually infinite communication and paths of the communication are what makes you a person.
The physical world is all there ever has been, or will be. Those of us who do not believe...
we don't have souls.
Do animals make conscience improvements to their methods? Yes. There are groups of primates, beyond HomoSapiens, in the wild that make spears. Did you know that? Sounds like a conscience method to me.
Animals actually do have a choice. Primates that have been taught sign...
During my undergraduate program I had a physics professor who referred to a "Creator". I finally asked him, do you believe in a "Creator"? He proceeded to explain that there is no personal god, or being...but it's simply a term for a concept of order that is bigger than we can understand.
If...
god doesnt let anyone suffer. god allowing suffering is no different than the affliction that santa clause brings to us all.
they are both equally real.
Keep in mind that the words we often use for explaining things, such as, a "spiritual" experience are very unique.
Spiritual experiences are very real, but their relationship with religion/god are completely irrelevant.
I am an atheist, yet I have had very spiritual experience.
What is the state of man after death?
What is the state of a goat after death?
They're both dead. Worm food. Bacterial decay. All animals, including HomoSapiens, are the same on inside, and we all experience the same death.
If you believe that god guides the design of life, you are quite uneducated. There are so many flaws, just in the human body, that if you are correct about god's involvement in this process, he is not very smart.
Evolution was the first topic that made me question religion. I have read an unbelievable amount of books on the topic of evolution, and I am in the process of a MS in Microbiology.
I read every page of the Bible, front to back...then I decided that god wasn't real.
Evolution wasn't really...
