I AM arguing the divinity of Jesus, in an indirect way. As Christians, on the whole, believe the god of the OT was Jesus and visa versa, if the god of the OT can be shown to be anthropomorphised volcanic activity....who in their right mind would continue to claim Jesus was the god of the OT? Did...
Don't be too hard on Yahweh. He didn't ask to be born. Besides, every now and then he showed his softer side.
Exodus 32:10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.11And Moses besought the Lord his...
My argument is that the entity in the Psalm bares no relation to Jesus, when taken as a whole. My post was directed at Christians, most of wholm argue the entity in this Psalm IS Jesus.
I think maybe the wiki page below might help some Christians along a bit...

That is pretty conclusive isn't it?
Here is the summary of the sermon mentioned in the page above....
"There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one...
For me, there is no correlation but Christians have convinced themselves that the god of the OT was Jesus....all the same man. One Christian friend I know once said, in response to my questions, that maybe Jesus had become a better god....and then shrugged her shoulders.
If Jesus was god then this Psalm would conjure up images of Jesus and not a volcano. If there are parts of this Psalm that conjure up images of a volcano, how can that be reconsiled with Christians? Did Jesus ever display wrathful, vengeful, hot headed and murderous tendencies to the point that...
You're right but there are many things that contribute to the theory, one being that the use of volcanic activity 'imagery' is strikingly regular in the OT. Either the god of the OT was volcanic activity or all the authors were a bit volcano-mad and just couldn't think of very much else to...
This is a little test. Can all Christians who believe Jesus was the god of the OT please say whether or not the following Psalm sounds more like Jesus than a volcano? Just say 'Jesus' or 'Volcano' and make sure your answer comes from your head and not your heart and keep the entire Psalm in mind...
Do people worship volcanoes
Yahweh was very similar to Pele. He destroyed people with his fiery wrath, brimstone, rivers of fire and nostril filled smoke.....but then the ash fell and rejuvenated the land and then none of the survivors complained.
Funnily enough, Pele used to be used in the...
His purpose was to release magma from under rifting continental plates, thus forming new land, releasing new minerals and enriching the land....and thus the people. He destroyed people, farmland and animals with his fiery wrath, rivers of fire, outstretched arm (earthquake), brimstone, etc.
This hits the nail on the head for why the Abrahamic religions have reigned supreme for so long while all other nature cults died a death long ago. The Hebrews moved away from their physical god/gods and made him omnipresent. He was upgraded in order to survive. If the Jews still camped at the...
It scares the hell out of them but they have the advantage of group narcissim, which enables them to fight against all those who threaten their clans and they, therefore, become islands unto themselves.....but still, forever, afraid that one day they too will become the one singled out for some...
One thing that made my faith drain away was the sight of the blissful yet foolish face of a Christian woman who, in responce to me pointing out the horrid white-washing in 'The Good News Bible', claimed 'But it's all from Jesus! Everything is from Jesus!'. An unforgetable moment.
Faith in the...
How many great revelations were anticipated due to knowledge and experience?
Everything you say needs to be turned on its head, and I suspect you feared that and that is why you posed this question.
Nothing we know now is certain....of that we can be sure.
You highlight a crucial flaw in the Abrahamic religions, and most other fear based religions. The problem originated in the total ambiguity of punishment metered out by Yahweh, the god of the ancient Hebrews. They set up camp at the base of an erupting volcano that every now and then ate up a...
