Does it really matter if we believe in God?

If someone sincerely helps me out, I am not going to criticize for it even if their motivating beliefs seemed false to me. I'm not going to point out faults of something that is positive, even if it relies on something that is important to them but that I don't believe. I personally don't hold...

    Protestant learns about Orthodox Christianity

I also liked his attitude in this video. There was potential for conflict there, but it remained respectful, as you said.

    Are people generally getting dumber?

There have always been "dumb" people. At one point writing stopped being a sign of the elite and voices were heard that didn't reflect any practical issues, but more about various desires turned to opinions. That made it seem like they "appeared" and now with the internet they have their ways of...

Does it really matter if we believe in God?

I think many of them just want suicide because they can't handle life and it's complexities, so they want to run away. They just use the excuse given to them by fanatics and if they can spread misery to people they hate, they see it as murdering two birds with one stone. We are thinking along...

Does it really matter if we believe in God?

It doesn't matter what we believe, it's what we do as consequence of our belief that matters. Also beliefs that can't be objectively proven aren't valued by people who don't understand them or see the value in them.

How did Christianity kill longstanding paganism in Europe?

A lot of violence was used, not something Jesus would have approved. Northern Crusades - Wikipedia Paganism isn't really gone either, they were still trying to eradicate it before it started growing again with the internet.

How About Some Good News That We All Can Agree With

Interested if wages rose in lower income or if it was all just the top % earning more? In my country at least those are interesting when government says they've done something for average joe.

    Is Alex Being Abused?

Or live so far up north that the sun isn't very dangerous. It's only for a few hours where I live during summers that you need to avoid it...

    Protestant learns about Orthodox Christianity

I thought it was a nice vid, especially to people who are more familiar with Protestant or Catholic, but not Orthodox.

3 Black Churches Have Burned in 10 Days in a Single Louisiana Parish

I hope the perpetrators get caught, whoever they are.

    Is Alex Being Abused?

Not as far as nudism at least. It's healthy and your skin will thank you for experiencing outdoors... I wouldn't go full nudist though, personally.

    Is Alex Being Abused?

Just the minimum that doesn't get uncomfortable to other people. Besides, how else do you go to sauna if not naked. Maybe a swim too... well for the prudes out there wear appropriate swimming clothes...

Not if they were serious. ;)

19 year old assaults 81 year old for Wearing MAGA Hat

I wouldn't attack any old man minding their own business even if they were wearing a Nazi Uniform and holding an ISIS flag in one hand and a statue of Stalin in the other.

Kids Who Remember Their Past Lives

If such a thing happens, then I will accept it. To my current self it doesn't sound any different from becoming one with the universe ("dust")... do you think it's important to think about reincarnation during life or is it a sidepath?

Do you see it or feel it?

@Amanaki After WW2 Finland had a pacifist defense minister, Yrjö Kallinen, for a few years (1946-1948), who was the first Finn to write a collection of essays on Zen Buddhism "Light of the East"... he was also part of the Free Thinkers, a generally humanist and atheist group though he argued...

Do you see it or feel it?

We also get more news about rape. It's also partly due to the fact that 10-30 years back the blame was shifted on victims and it was shameful in itself to be raped. A lot less reporting and less convictions back then.

Researchers develop way to control speed of light, send it backward

I would love to see a presentation of this, so I don't make false conclusions. If my intuition is right (just guessing what the results are and how they are achieved... I don't claim expertise), this could make a breakthrough in communications technology in ten-twenty years.
