Okay fair enough, I agree as a result of technology there are certain negatives with the way humanity is travelling, I for one have been banging on about climate change for decades but I have faith that things will be okay.
And never forget about the fact that now you can live an extra 30...
Knowledge, evidence, truth, proof, assumption, axiom, belief, faith firstly depends on your level of consciousness.
Knowledge, beliefs, truths and understanding can be gained in two ways
Rationalism (Nature) and Empiricism (Nurture)
And you can express this knowledge, beliefs, truths and...
That's a little pessimistic, what about all the wonderful things humans have achieved because of technology. And all the amazing positive futuristic technologies that could make the world and humanity a better place.
I'm not sure but I imagine thousands of years a go, pagans where using all...
Because of our intelligence, is it still biological evolution if humans can develop certain types of technology that alters our biological makeup, for example some type of human brain computer or new drugs that can make us smarter.
Could we evolve into some sort of super human or of course the...
Yes, you're right
What of the large complex systems within the realms of science.
Science can observe them without changing the objective reality. No matter what subjective thoughts. Evidence is indisputable.
I think this is a very good 'balanced' article discussing Objective Reality...
Okay, are you saying everything is independent of the mind? Objective reality doesn't exist?
I think a objective reality & truths exists in science. How can these large complex systems of the universe work without it? Evidence is indisputable.
I think this is a very good 'balanced' article...
Yes, misunderstanding, you're right my thoughts can be recorded. My point was if you asked an expert to put a rating on these questions, they would be more 'meaningful'
No you're right individual statements are not evidence. That's like having ten priest say god exists.
However, I'm more then...
Is it fair to say that what one person sees as an objective reality is different from the next person. And there are only a handful of objective truths like maths and physics? Everything else is on a 'scale' of some sort? (100% to 0% real)
For example, I might see an object and say the object...
Yes, I suppose everything can be measured in a way but its just my opinion and that can hardly be called evidence.
Its about the type of evidence presented. If you you asked an expert in the relevant fields, then it would hold more credence.
Do you mean feelings as in emotions or how you feel about something because I think they are different. Emotions can be measured through self-assessment questionnaires or only with objective psychophysics or brain imaging.
How you feel about something can not be measured?
Yeah, I assume what you are referring to is faith? Or simply a subjective experience like how you feel about something.
Or could you explain some examples or situations where something is evident without proof of reasoning.
Thanks
Yes I see what you mean.
However, would you agree humans are looking for the most probable or most correct outcome, therefore science & evidence based studies do this more than anything else.
Or are you only referring to purely subjective experiences like how you feel about something or thoughts?
I think we are, we are highly evolved animals and some are going to be lonely. It’s part of the evolutionary journey of the human being, the incredible diversity that makes up the rich tapestry of who we are what we will become.
And loneliness is one part of that.
In the right setting, it's the closest thing to getting proof. To find out things, various governments use studies, professionals of all walks use studies, scientist use studies.
What do you think people should use to understand things better?
Fear of dying.
As humans we want to stay alive, it's so natural.
I think that's one of the main differences between us and animals, they don't concern themselves with death like we do.
And as atheist death is the one area where I wish I believed in god.
