Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

Really? Do you think someone who actually thinks they are being watched by an all-powerful and judgmental cosmic sky-daddy would let themself space out while worshipping and praying to it?
  2. Rational Agnostic

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

Oh? Are you one of the atheists who fakes being a theist too? Lmao
  3. Rational Agnostic

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

Polls are not usually representative samples since people who participate in religious polls are more likely to be religious, and not to mention, people lie on surveys. Also, if you go to church and observe people during prayer/creed recitations, you'll notice most are not really paying...

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

Not really, because nearly all of the social ramifications of "coming out" as an atheist are negative, so it makes sense that the percentage of atheists in the US would be underestimated and the percentage of theists would be overestimated.

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

I would doubt those results are a representative sample. I tend to think those who respond to a religiously-oriented survey are more likely to be religious, and of course, people frequently lie on surveys. I expect most Americans are actually atheists but just don't talk about it because it's...

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

Honestly I would guess around half or more of churchgoers/self proclaimed American Christians are atheists and just go for the social activity or to keep family/friends happy and avoid conflict.

    Irony of the evolutionary belief

Read a book on evolutionary biology. I'm not going to waste my time writing a long essay for you that you won't even try to understand anyway. :)
  8. Rational Agnostic

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

No, they only cited links to articles of specific things Dr. Dawkins said, without explaining the reasoning for why they specifically disagreed with those statements. I read a couple of the articles and found myself agreeing with Dr. Dawkins so I asked the person why he disagreed with the...

    Irony of the evolutionary belief

The difference is that complex intelligence emerged from simple components, so from an evolutionary perspective it makes more sense that what we would have at the beginning of the evolution of life on earth (and presumably at the beginning of the universe) would be much simpler than what we see...

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

Okay, I'm sorry my questions and asking for facts and reasoning made you feel uncomfortable. Maybe when you're feeling better and your emotions have calmed down you can help me understand your position, I'm always happy to discuss and always enjoy hearing new perspectives. :)

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

You still didn't explain precisely *how* these statements make him a misogynist, islamophobe, or anti-trans and didn't give any reasoning for why you think he was wrong on these things. For example, I tend to agree that hearing church bells is more pleasant than hearing an aggressive call of...

    Its not euthanasia, its suicide.

I already said very clearly, she gets to decide this and make this decision. My position is very simple. If someone is actively talking about suicide in any way, I don't view it as a decision, I view it as a cry for help and believe society should do whatever it takes to prevent it from...

Richard Dawkins says he is a Cultural Christian

Can you explain precisely *how* he is anti-feminist, anti-trans, and Islamophobic, or do you just enjoy throwing these words around when someone uses facts and logic to come to conclusions that you don't like?
  14. Rational Agnostic

    Its not euthanasia, its suicide.

No, I don't advocate for "forcing" anyone to suffer until death. If someone truly reaches a point of hopelessness that they decide to end it all, I believe it's their right to die by their own hand. The fact that this is being planned and allowed and PERFORMED by a "doctor" indicates a deeper...

    Its not euthanasia, its suicide.

The fact that you and so many other people are so cold and jaded and apparently so willing to give up all hope on a person and not only permit this, but encourage it, is probably one of the main reasons that people want to end their lives in the first place.

RFK - Biden More Dangerous than Trump

I mean, if you are so uninformed that you're actually unaware and you're also unwilling to take 30 seconds and search YouTube yourself for all the disturbing things Trump has said and done then it tells me your mind is made up already and you're just here to argue.

RFK - Biden More Dangerous than Trump

I think @SkepticThinker covered the dictator part--here is the president for life comment from back in 2018: Trump says maybe U.S. will have a president for life someday

The Question Islam and Christianity Can't Answer

No. Your constraint is the three choices on the menu, not any individual choice. You don't possess the free choice to pick any entrees other than the three on the menu, yes? That is your constraint. This is a very simple concept lol I don't get why it's so hard for you to understand.

The Question Islam and Christianity Can't Answer

No, I didn't say foreknowledge determines what happens, I said it constrains what happens. A constrained choice is not a free choice, correct?
