When "Inerrant" Really Means "Full Of Errors"

Exo 20:5 thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; Exo 20:6 and showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me...

When "Inerrant" Really Means "Full Of Errors"

Forever can be a long time or a short time. Jon 2:6 (2:7) I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars closed upon me for ever; yet hast Thou brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God. In the case of Jonah, "for ever" was three days.

Were there 12 tribes of Israel, or were there actually 13?

The four divisions of the encampments of the Children of Israel and their banners are significant in the book of Revelation Rev 4:6 And before the throne was something like a sea of glass, like crystal, and in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures full of...

    Recommended books on philosophy?

For an interest in the history of philosophy there is "A history of philosophy" by Frederick Copeleston. It's a history of western philosophy written by a Jesuit Priest. There are nine volumes and I had them in paperback which separated each volume into parts. So there are something like 17...

    Augustine & Original Sin

I like that. "Each of us has become our own Adam". In Augustine's confessions, he recounts a time in his youth when he stole pears from a neighbor's tree. He mentions that he was not even hungry and there were even better pears at home. For Augustine that was a very big deal. He considered it...

    Augustine & Original Sin

They are exceptions to the rule. And so too will those who are living and translated at Christ's coming. After the dead are raised. Not of his particular sin. But I might look at myself and say "am I without sin myself?" if you want to take it further you might ask, "What is it about us that...

    Augustine & Original Sin

I think it's true that we all die because of Adam's sin. Guilty by association. By being in Adam when he sinned. Just like made righteous by association in Christ.

    Augustine & Original Sin

Sticking to the verse in question. Paul says that "by" or "through" "one man sin entered the world". And in verse 14 Paul mentions Adam's transgression". God told Adam not to eat from the tree. Adam did. Therefore, Adam sinned.

    Augustine & Original Sin

I think it's incorrect to say: "because of what Adam did, sin is possible". That sounds as if it wasn't possible for Adam to sin. Yet he did. So, what made it possible for Adam to sin?

    Augustine & Original Sin

Yes, it's about death. And so is Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— Adam sinned and the entire human race was condemned..

1 Cor 15:22 For as ὥσπερ (hōsper) Adverb Strong's Greek 5618: Just as, as, even as. From hos and per; just as, i.e. Exactly like. in ἐν (en) Preposition Strong's Greek 1722: In, on, among. Augustine & Original Sin

I referenced the wrong book. It was 1 Cor. 15:22 where Paul uses the word "in". Are you saying the word is not there?

    Augustine & Original Sin

What made Adam capable of doing so(sinning)? I posted the verse from Galatians because Paul said "for as In Adam all die". What does Paul mean by that? "in Adam all die"

    Augustine & Original Sin

I don't see the difference whether it's translated "in whom" or "because". If you want to argue that all die because all sin. I would disagree. I believe all die because Adam sinned. Meaning that we are all in Adam when he sinned. And it is because of his sin that we all die.

    Augustine & Original Sin

The thing that passes to all of mankind because of Adam's sin is death. We all sinned in Adam because we share the same nature he had when he sinned. it is the very nature of man which has been condemned to death. The law does that. Paul says, "for as in Adam all die" ...."even so in Christ...

    Is Christianity polytheistic?

And why is Jesus called Lord? Act 2:34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, Act 2:35 until I make your enemies your footstool.”’ Act 2:36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him...

    Is Christianity polytheistic?

Who is Jesus' God? Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, Eph 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in...

    Christopher Plummer has passed away

Actually, it was a very enjoyable movie, I particularly liked this one: She climbs a tree and scrapes her knee Her dress has got a tear She waltzes on her way to Mass And whistles on the stair And underneath her wimple She has curlers in her hair I even heard her singing in the abbey She's...

Oh, he was trying to lull them with that song so he could make his getaway.

They were probably thinking they should have grab him before he started singing.
