The Lord's Prayer...What are we Praying For?

Hello Deeje I hope you don't mind non-Christian seeker types such as myself having a go at this. The order of the prayer seems to be Praise of God (and specifically the Name), reminder of the preeminence of God's Will (as opposed to my will), then Asking for things - needs, forgiveness and...

    Post Your Denomination

My friend and I visit a variety of churches. We've been to Anglican, Uniting (Methodist/Presbyterian), Pentecostal and Catholic church services so far. Of those, the Pentecostal was the most fun/entertaining/exciting, but the Anglican was the most interactive and had the greatest impression on me.

    Is the universe singing Haleluya?

I'm not an expert and am only passing on YouTube rumours. Someone asked the same question in that video's comment section though, and the response said that no, it wasn't the kind of data you could convert into audio. I think if you had a dozen or so numbers the sound produced would be more...

    Is the universe singing Haleluya?

According to the comments on that Wow Signal YouTube video, the audio presented is fake. The sound detected by the Big Ear was not being recorded. It was output as non-audio data. Sorry!

    Is the universe singing Haleluya?

Could be Waheguru instead of Haleluya :D I think get what you're saying - it's not that the sound is cycling though the syllables of the word, but is sounding each syllable at the same time. Right? It's a very pleasing sound.

    Help Ymir choose a pet!

Hi Ymir :) All the best with your search for a furry companion. I have the company of a miniature schnauzer and highly recommend. I chose this breed because they are compact and low-shed. They are generally intelligent and not yappy but will bark to guard your house. He likes people and is...

Im new to the reading of the Guru Grant Sahib, question..

Yes, in Sikhi there is Ik Onkar, one universal creative force. It goes further in a way that Aupmanyav alluded to; Sikhi is panentheistic so that everything in existence is essentially formed from god itself - like a wave (an object in creation) is simply water in the shape of a wave, that...

Im new to the reading of the Guru Grant Sahib, question..

@Unguru claims that in Sikhi "[the gods] are all one". I'm waiting for he or she to clarify just what they mean by that in a Sikh context. It is a specific statement and by itself could be confusing if they don't expand on what they're saying. I don't fell that "The gods are all one because...

    Lord Shiva

Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but how did you get from Shiva and Hinduism to Jesus and the Gospel in the Sikh DIR? I've seen you talking about the Gospel in multiple threads in the Sikh DIR and I'm not sure what you're trying to get at. I don't understand why you're mentioning it.

    Lord Shiva

With respect, what relevance does this have to the thread? Are you equating Jesus with Hindu gods in relation to the Ik Onkar of Sikhi? Perhaps that is indeed the case from the Sikh point of view.

Im new to the reading of the Guru Grant Sahib, question..

It's not a contradiction in the translation. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji does talk about other gods. Usually it's in the context of using terminology and imagery familiar to Guru Sahib's audience at the time, and putting a new (Sikh) spin on it. Sometimes the audience is Hindu (so Guru Sahib...
