    "Modernisation, yes; Westernisation, no."

Can you give examples of what it is about western culture that is threatening to India?

    "Modernisation, yes; Westernisation, no."

G'day So @The Neo Nerd and I were watching Cenk Uygur vs Dinesh D'Souza on Youtube. They had a discussion starting just after this marker: https://youtu.be/v4sULDNpvqs?t=47m25s where Dinesh talks about Muslim extremists in 3rd world countries using the projection of American culture as an...

    How Can You Worship God?

If you can't speak to me in a civilized manner, then please don't bother responding in my thread.

    How Can You Worship God?

I'm not looking for a debate. I'm sincerely wanting to hear from Christians how they rationalise worship of God given the reports of his actions in the Old Testament. I'm hoping someone can clear it up for me in a way that I can then accept, as I'm open to learning about Christianity and...

    How Can You Worship God?

Hello I know this questions has been asked a million times before. If you have links to previous good threads on the topic, please share them. This is a genuine question. When you read the OT, and you read about God instructing the Israelites to massacre men, married women and children, and...

Not sure where to look next?

I think SG is right on the mark. Seekers do the deep dive... it's sometimes like instead of seeking truth, faith and goodness, we seek the reasons not to believe or align with a religion. This has been my experience anyway. It's not easy at all! I hear you, Illykitty. In fact, sometimes I wish...

Not sure where to look next?

Don't forget, a/theism are statements relating to belief. A/gnosticism are statements relating to knowledge. Technically I think we're all agnostic when it comes to the existence of god. :-P We either believe or we don't believe. The thing I and other people struggle with more is working out...

    Heathen Talk Podcast/Youtube

G'day These podcasts are casual and informative; there's something about listening to people chat about a religion that I feel helps build culture and lifestyle. Heathenry becomes more real and every-day. They are live at 10pm Eastern / 7pm Pacific on Wednesdays. Here's the Youtube channel...

    Having issues with Sikh prayers...

Please provide a reference for where Gurbani 'makes fun' of idolatry so we can examine it. Also, what you're calling 'prayers' aren't prayers in the traditional sense. They are poetry and songs and their daily repetition by Sikhs is far closer to meditation than to prayer.

Sharing some of my MUS about Sif

Thanks for the reply. I think your de-emphasis may be on track. I've seen the emphasis for Frige more on spinning than weaving. That seems to fit together nicely.

Sharing some of my MUS about Sif

Do you know if there are any hints about Sif's name in OE? If she is boss of domestic matters, what's you view of Frige?

New Song for Woden in Old English :)

There may be a connection. This from Wikipedia: The weekday name Wednesday derives from Old English. Cognate terms are found in other Germanic languages, such as Old High German wōdnesdæg, Middle Low Germanwōdensdach (Dutch Woensdag), and Old NorseÓðinsdagr (Danish, Norwegian and Swedish...

    Having issues with Sikh prayers...

Can you remember which prayers you read? Was it Japji Sahib? Really, you can interpret anything the way you want to. In Sikhi, everyone dies. The devoted Sikh 'dies while alive'. The devoted Sikh, by dying while alive (eliminating ego-self), avoids the pain of physical death. It is not a...
