Well as a non-expert I know how much income I have a month and how much I can afford to spend on rent. My finances are MY responsibility not my banks. I agree it is insane how much credit people can get but they don't have to use it.
I don't understand how you could care for a child for 3 years and not be attached to him/her. Legally I don't think you should be responsible but I think you would be acting a bit like a dick in most circumstances.

I use my university library for both hard copies and e-copies. I also tend to use specialized search engines for academic work. Google is generally no use for my uni work apart from the very basics.
