Atheism and Secularism are the future

Religion entirely won't die off. Some religions will lose popularity while others gain popularity, new religions will pop up and the trend will continue to change.

    Pics of your altar/shrine

Thank you! That is a ozen tray used to carry the offerings to the kamidana. Usually it's placed with the offerings however due to space limits I put it to a different use. It's an offering tray to Tenchi Kane no Kami and Konko-Sama now. Inside is yen (representing the blessings and good...

    Pics of your altar/shrine

Thank you! Yes Kyoto is beautiful, I still have to return to Japan and complete my pilgrimage per say. I've yet to visit the really big shrines (Ise, Tsubaki, Inari Fushimi). If you go back and are visiting temples I recommend Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto. And spend the yen to go into the tunnel...

    Pics of your altar/shrine

Home altars/shrines are common practice throughout a plethora of religious traditions. If you have one that you'd like to share post a picture! I find it interesting to see how people worship in their homes, altars and shrines are also beautiful to me and show something about the person who...

    Is Waiting Until Marriage Foolish?

What I'm saying is that it's completely up to the person. Like I said I see no danger in waiting / not waiting as long as you're educated enough to understand contraceptives, dangers, and the health of your partner. I don't think anyone can come to the decision that it's well advised or ill...

    Is Waiting Until Marriage Foolish?

As long as both parties are well educated in sex (they know the dangers, precautions to take, ect.) and their partner's health I don't see it as 'foolish' or 'ill-advised.' Just a personal choice really.

    Where Were You Today?

I woke up at 5 AM this morning to bike down to the beach to do the traditional Shinto practice of purification (known as Misogi Shuho). It involves chanting, shouting, and of course getting in the water; you know typical religious stuff. I though the sight of the sunrise from the beach was...

    Is English your first language?

English is my first language and I know a little bit of Japanese from living in Chigasaki (town near Kamakura) for a short time. I also know a tad bit of German from old foreign language classes.

    Law enforcement is too aggressive

Police militarization is a problem. No small town police department needs a tank. In fact, I don't think ANY police department in America needs a tank.
