The Authority of the Roman Catholic Church

Good post Terry - RC's always seem to forget about Antioch (I know I did) and its place of honor as the FIRST Apostlic See.... which does not make it any more special just because of the age.

The Authority of the Roman Catholic Church

Well you can't "disagree" with something you didn't see - those who were not a witness to the risen Lord could simply not believe it to be true. Christianity without belief in the resurrection is properly called JUDAISM. All the non-believers would have continued to be Jews, believing Jesus...

A good start: Early Christian Writings: New Testament, Apocrypha, Gnostics, Church Fathers Lots of neat Gnostic and "spurious" writing to get the brain moving ....

The Authority of the Roman Catholic Church

It all comes down to one thing: the ressurection. If you believe it to be factual, well ... in my opinion everything else becomes clearer. If you don't ... there are lots of ways to know the Truth outside of Christianity and outside of faith in general. Avoid evil - seek to do good -- >...

The Flavors of Christianity (Christian input please)

Good post bribrius... some healthy scepticism is always good provided you continue to seek with an open mind.

Another question about heaven and hell

GOOD question! I like the comment in the thread about brainwashing ... Gotta be something like that. Person is so happy being in with God nothing else matters.

The Authority of the Roman Catholic Church

Gotcha... but of course you believe this or you (or other Protestants/Muslims) would still be Catholic! Thanks for the input... be well. -S

The Flavors of Christianity (Christian input please)

No ... he had very little to do with theology -- and is about 300 years too late to be a part of why I am Catholic. The testimony and actions of those who lived in the early church (Polycarp, Ignatius, etc).

The Flavors of Christianity (Christian input please)

One more Catholic ... but I consider myself to be a Maronite Catholic, not Roman.... it's a work in progress. And I am Catholic because I believe in the witness of the early church.
