    Biblical coersion

Utter nonsense you can't call it love when there's threat of violence.
  2. TheBannerofHomuraAkemi

Is Heaven, Nirvana etc the goal?

    That's a fair point.

Is Heaven, Nirvana etc the goal?

I don't want to exist for eternity even if it was some place good, because eventually everything loses its appeal and there's no new experiences. Also the idea of spending time with the God of the bible is a terrifying proposal.

    Biblical coersion

Oh yes that's love. You better love me or I will eternally torment you. It sounds no different from when someone holds a gun to person and tells them if they don't have sex the person holding the gun will shoot them.

    The Problem with Polytheism

    Turtles all the way down.

Who is the first and the last?

As someone who is outside the Christian faith, I speculate this kind of question comes up when you add another god figure to a monotheistic religion and forget to hire an editor to make sure you have no plot holes.

Why would a god select only the few?

This sounds like the argument from divine hiddenness, but I could be mistaken. I have yet to come across an answer to it that makes sense.

    How can perfect beings sin?

From my experience and witnessing my former members of my church organizations. Due to their interpretations of the bible they feel superior to others because they accepted Gods calling in their life and now do the Lords work. People like to feel special and I don't blame them. In my opinion I...

    How can perfect beings sin?

This is not an attack of your faith or anything, but it's one of the reasons why I stopped believing in your god. Christianity has so many apologist running around trying to find the right excuses when the answer from an all knowing all powerful God that a lot Christians claim Jesus to be...

    How can perfect beings sin?

I agree with that statement. When I was a christian I always viewed it as an allegory and not some literal thing that happen.

    How can perfect beings sin?

I think it's because of creationist trying to fit this story into reality instead of seeing it as a fable of the lost of child like innocence as we mature and grow up and how we can never get it back.

    Original Sin

But thats just your interpretation and if you excluded those people from the discussion because of their interpretation could allow yourself to fall into a fallacy.

    Where's the devil?

I don't know if Charles would support your faith. In the story where the quote you use came from "The Generous Gambler" a man lose his soul to the devil in a game of chance, but the thing is the man doesn't care he finds the soul useless and boring. He ends up asking the priest who says the...

    Original Sin

I tend to take people at their word if they say their faith is Christianity so I don't get myself trapped in a no true scotsman fallacy.

If God spoke directly to everyone...

How do you prove something that's supernatural?

Say Something Conciliatory to the “Other Side”

I would say we both support Gun Control, but different level or variations of it. I would say we both support free press and Separation of church and state within the first amendment I would say were both against slavery
  17. TheBannerofHomuraAkemi

    Original Sin

I agree, but I haven't had much experience with Christians who don't put a lot of their doctrine on Paul's own writing or his suppose writing.
  18. TheBannerofHomuraAkemi

    Original Sin

Is Originial sin even just? In the USA it's unconstitutional.

The Garden of good and evil

In the case of this fable I am saying they were created without the knowledge of good and evil.
  20. TheBannerofHomuraAkemi

The Garden of good and evil

What a long winded response showing your use of the no true Scotsman fallacy.
