You Belong in 1968
If you scored...
1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!
1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.
1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the...
Just my opinion but I think some are being a little precious. It is only an image. Nothing particularly sacred about it. Only humans are capable of being sanctified.
Even when I was a mormon, I would not have found the image insulting. The church needs to differentiate between parody (which is acceptable even with a copyrighted image) and insult.
In the NT Jesus is quite clear that any judgement that a person uses will be used against them. We see it everyday, the evangelical preacher who fulminates against sin and is found a sinner, the politician who harps on about welfare recipients and is found avoiding taxes.
In a sense Jesus is...
God, I firmly believe, understands us so well that there is nothing in us that God hates or fears. Ahura Mazda is not about fear, not about hatred but compassionate understanding of the human condition.
From a Zoroastrian perspective, hell is self-chosen and educative. All folk will come out of the hells they have made for themselves into the light of God. Certainly we would not accept that mere posting of a different POV makes you condemned for eternity.
New Zealand in the 1960s was a little like the US in the 1940s. It was quiet, you could play where you liked, do what you liked. Played in the near by bush (forest in the US / UK), put pennies and ha'pennies on the train tracks (& got my backside kicked by the local traffic cop for it)!
During...
Not at all, It is simply a comment. Now if anyone would like to discuss it further then perhaps it could be a debate topic but as it stands it is simply my opinion concerning a religion that I am well-informed on.
Added to my earlier post.
I wish I could be around on the day that humans first encounter sentient aliens. Perhaps together they and we can form a more accurate picture of 'life, the universe and everything.'
Interesting result.
You scored as Buddhism.
Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Buddhism. Do more research on Buddhism and possibly consider becoming Buddhist, if you are not already. In Buddhism, there are Four Noble Truths: (1) Life is suffering. (2) All suffering is caused by...
The Baha'i view on homosexuality is, IMO at least, quite wrong. It insists that homosexuals may not marry and then says that sex outside marriage is unacceptable which, of course, means life long celibacy for homosexual baha'is.
It is, IMO again, one more reason for asserting that the Baha'i...
Anoia is one of my favourite Pratchett Goddesses.
In a real sense all pictures of God / Goddess are subjective. They are all, in some sense, humanity writ large. I argue that it is impossible for it to be otherwise given that the ONLY eyes we can see God / the Goddess through are human ones.
