The soldiers did not witness the resurrection of Jesus, in fact no one saw the act of resurrection of Jesus. He came to disciples after he was resurrected and instructed them how to preach and perform ministry. Then he ascended into Heaven in front of the disciples. The last two things cannot be...
Actually Christianity defines Jesus as fully man and fully God. To say he was in fact human is no way blasphemous or heretical, in fact if you were to denounce his humanity then you would be going against traditional Christian theology.
That said it seems like the OP does not believe Jesus was...
To each their own, if someone believes there are experiencing God who am I to judge? We know that our God is great and I can understand if someone has huge spurt of energy when they are in His presence.
I'll be honest most Christians probably do believe in concepts that are not biblical, but thats not a Christian phenomena, thats a human condition. Only a small fraction of Christians have read quite a bit of their bible, and the rest just go off of what they see in popular culture. The same can...
Thanks for the responses! So there is an oral Torah as well as an written one? Are they different in any way, could you point me to a good resource about understanding the oral Torah?
Excuse me for the ignorance, and pardon me if they've been asked before but I have some questions;
I have heard from some Jewish members on this forum, and also in media, that the Jewish people do not necessarily believe in an afterlife? How true is this, I know that the Jewish faith says that...
That was kind of painful to watch, not because of the questions, but because it was evident that Richard was not ready to answer any questions. I would recommend that before you use this as evidence of Christianity being false you should actually talk to someone who can at least google these...
Jesus Himself said that when we pray we should ask for anything, and if we are true believers we will receive. Though you could certainly say true believers wouldn't pray for material things :D
It is God's will that in whatever we do, whatever we believe, that we bring Glory to Him. It is our purpose for life, and the reason of existence (the Christian belief that is). If you accept Christianity to be true, and that the Bible is a good representation of God's will, than you believe...
I would be very careful with that belief, because to say you can over emphasis the significance of the crucifixion is like saying you can be too sad when someone dies. Make no mistake, the resurrection is one of the most important events in Christianity because it proves that Jesus had favor...
I think most Christians believe Jesus will return, but not in our lifetime. It kind of connects to whether or not they believe the Bible is divinely inspired by God, if they consider it a collection of man made writings than maybe they don't think Jesus will return.
If they didn't care about you, they wouldn't try to save you. Try to remember that, even though they are annoying, they are only looking out for your best interests (even if you believe they are misguided).
People that have that mentality would probably not listen to you if you were trying to persuade them otherwise. Though you could hit them with a few choice bible verses: Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:8, but I think the more important thing would be to teach non believers (or believers that are unsure...
Let me a pose a hypothetical question, can someone who doesn't have kids understand the love a parent has for their children? I know many people who when they had kids it completely changed their lives because there is no experience like it, and you can't simulate to the full extent of what it...
The question is a farce, because unless you have experienced what many believers have, you would not understand.
But I guess there is an answer to your question; faith.
Exactly, don't take things at face value. I'm a Christian, but I wouldn't believe something because an important figure in my religion said so. It takes studying, meditation, and personal faith to come to an answer that doesn't have absolute facts. There can still be an answer, and most likely...
