Some should know better.

Alas, that's not always the case.

They (mullahs, imams, ulama, scholars, clerics) should be better educated than the average believers (Muslims). They should have higher standard, but they also should know better, and see that what they are doing (inciting mobs against some innocents, and in this case, the girl) are wrong.

Hadrat ‘Ali narrates that the Holy Prophet (saw) said:
‘A time will come in the near future when there will be
nothing left of Islam except its name. And there will
be nothing left of the Holy Qur’an except its words
[meaning the Holy Qur’an would not be understood
and followed]. The mosques of that age will apparently
be full of people, but will be empty of righteousness.
Their ulema will be the worst creatures under the heaven.
Discordwill rise from them and will come right back to them.
[That is, these ulema will be the source of all evils.]
(al-Baihaqi as quoted in al-Mishkat Kitab-ul ‘Ilm, chapter 3, p. 38 and Kanzul ‘Ummal, chapter 6, p. 43)

“My people shall be seized with consternation: they will,
then, make for their ulama. But they shall find that their
ulama have became apes and swines.” (Kanzul ‘Ummal, vol. 7, p. 190)

“(At that time) people rolling in riches shall be many; but
those well-versed in the Law of Islam, few and far
between. The sermon-grinders in the mosques shall be
cunning and crafty, and the reciters of the Qur’an shall be
deceitful dissemblers. They shall turn their faces away
from Religion and expound on matters temporal. They
shall devour the world as the fire consumes fuel. But,
remember that Hell shall be the abode of these people, for
into that torturous place the cruel and the unjust have ever
been cast.” (Kanzul ‘Ummal, vol. 5, p. 217)

This pretty much sums up terrorism and bigotry today through the apparent Ulema..

Remember Christians, you used to burn people for blasphemy and heresy. So he or she who is without sin cast the first handful of monkey feces.

Sure.

Hundreds of years ago Christians used superstitions to target........other Christians!

I fail to see the importance of people bringing this up. It's like the nonsense of sins of the father.

Focus on the issue at hand. That's all that matters.

Our prophet Muhammad depicted today's scenario of ignorant and extremist ulema very correctly, I believe.

Wow.

50 people have posted in this thread, only 4 of them are Christian. . .

. . . 348 posts in this thread, only 26 of them made by Christians. . .

. . . and yet you felt that the Christians specifically needed to be singled out for this little reminder.

And I kind of doubt that any of our Christian members have ever burned anyone. Just a hunch.

"Used to" being the operative phrase, which still does not invalidate all the harm the Christian religion has caused in the name of its god.

but the past failing of certain individuals does not invalidate the Christian religion.

No, I think "you used to" is the operative phrase here.

not invalidate all the harm the Christian religion has caused in the name of its god.

It isn't about the validity of the charges it's about the identity and culpability of the accused.

Does someone who adopts a belief system automatically inherit responsibility for the actions of every other member of that belief system, past and present?

Other than the death penalty, these points are more globally disturbing...

This was taken directly from the report:

"On Monday, Pakistani police arrested the girl, known only by her first name, Ramsha, after accusations that she burned pages of the Koran, Islam's holy book. In Pakistan, it is a crime to utter derogatory statements or insult the Prophet Muhammad or the Koran in any way. Blasphemy convictions carry an automatic death sentence."

First of all... it's a punishment based without evidence - "accusations"

Secondly, and far worse... their religion IS their government... the religion sets the law???
