I don't think it's fair nor right to say someone is going to hell, I'm not God so I can't pretend to know the answer. I think it's not so black and white where x group is saved and all the rest are punished.

Just curious as to wether the followers of abrahamic religions here believe Buddhists are worshipping FALSE idols and are hellbound.

I will respect any thoughts either way, as long as your truthfull I will respect that.

If yes please elaborate.
More important, are you going to heaven?

The fire beckons for nearly all Christians who reject the Torah. Everyone spends time in the fire unless they have a perfectly clean(sed) record.

But don't worry, it's just temporary, "age long", not "Eternal" as many scaremongers try to preach.

Well actually, you should still worry, it's not exactly pleasant, even if its just temporary.

Scaremongers? The devil and hell is no cause for fright or concern?

I am curious if you can tell me what source tells you that being banished to the nether world is a temporary affair?

And if by chance you are correct, do you have any way of quantifying "age-long?"

As a Catholic I can tell you that purgatory is a "temporary affair." But seeings how self-absorbed man is so weak and fretful, they cannot bear the thought of 10 years of suffering during their old age nursing home days ---- MUCH LESS a thousand years of real pain and suffering in purgatory. IOW, no one should brush it off.

** Edit out **

You are being far too dogmatic... and judgmental I might add.

Protestantism is so picky and choosy as to which verses it wants to embrace --- and interpret for their own convenience.

I am not saying Catholicism is not without sin and error.

I am just saying right now, I am in hell at the moment.

I live on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia.

The temperature for the past week or so has been 40-42 degrees centigrade with 120km/hr winds and 0% humidity.

We are surrounded by bushfires on every side (my place is in no immediate danger).....but Sydney is surrounded and nobody can go outside.

There is so much smoke and haze, you can't see a foot in front of you...you cannot breathe at all and if you can see the sun, it is blood red.

Over 500 houses have already been lost and thousands are in danger. Fire fighters are resorting to bulldozing houses down to try and slow the fire...but it is burning on a 300km front and it cannot be stopped until it wants to stop.

There are frequent power outages and nobody can travel/go anywhere.

For the next few days, the weather conditions are going to be exactly the same, with no relief (rainfall-wise) until late Thursday/early Friday.

It is an inferno...it is really, really bad.

So sorry that you folks are going through this, and I heard this morning that the short-term prognosis is even worse since a couple of major fires may merge soon.

As I understand Buddahism, you attribute no self awareness to the universe (that which I call God) and when you die, you can either be reincarnated here on Earth again to atone for sins in past lives or progress to nirvana if you are righteous enough.. is this correct?

This is really not conjecturable atm, with the information we have.

Not atonement. Karma is the habitual patterns in your mind that may or may not continue in future causal action, or may not. There is too much chaos in the complexity of interacting causal factors for any degree of certainty.

Nibbana can be experienced in the here and now. This life or afterlife is not really relevant to nibbana.

Are you going to hell because you are Buddhist?

Surely not!

Are you going to hell?

Not one person on earth could ever answer that. Know that the Catholic Church has never said any individual is in hell nor would they ever. That is what is most meant by God alone is to judge. But if you ask does hell exist the answer is indubitably.

I will add that knowingly worshipping false idols is not a good practice. And false idols can cover a lot of ground. Of course I suspect most non Christian devout and well behaved souls are not knowingly worshipping a false idol.

I would also add that I would not listen to one word for one second coming from the character who calls himself “satans right hand man”

I believe the question was whether he was bound for hell not whether he would end up there. I believe there is still a good deal of time for a person to change.

I believe that might be a rule infraction although not against a staff member. As for me I believe I have learned to listen to everyone even if I don't expect much.

That does not say anything about people condemning other people, I hope you realize. Keep in mind that we are of the same faith.

Even though I'm not Christian, I agree with you. That verse doesn't say you or anyone else should condemn anyone. It essentially just says that God has condemn people. It's not something humans or especially Christians should do.

No offence but I was kind of hoped that an actual Buddahist would answer me. I just want to be clear on their belief. Please understand Im not trying to devalue your personal belief.... yet:p
