Doctors don't assign sex, biology does.

You cleary don't know what the term sex assigned at birth means. It means, "this is the sex that we believe the baby is based on their external genitals - however, this baby could have an intersex condition that we don't know about", or even, "we know this baby is intersex and has ambiguous genitalia, but we believe this baby is closest to male/female".

It's a medical term.

Some people seem to think having a natural biological sex is fatal or something givin how they carry on about it.
Ambiguous genitalia is a known biological phenomenon. As is intersex conditions that vary depending on the specific case.
You are aware of course that and I quote my old biology textbook from high school
“Sex characteristics in human beings are distributed through bimodal means.”

Medical science tends to be very specific, what can I say?

Well they obviously haven't banned cheap attempts at misdirection.
How is it misdirection? Circumcision is nearly always useless, it almost always needless, ergo it is genital mutilation in almost nearly every single case of it given it is very rare for it to be medically necessary.

Yeah, you are so hot for facts, that you don't even consider that there are no strict 2 sexes when it comes to humans for all variants for biological sex.
Or paying attention to those who have gone through it. Going by what some are saying you'd there'd be no issues at all if someone with gender dysphoria without ever transitioning and no one ever shows remarkable improvement.

I'd like to see you play Devil's advocate and try to see if you can come up with any ways that a human male might be able to understand what a human female feels and experiences. Particularly, ways that are not possible for a cat. I want to see if you can think of anything. I have a few pointers if you can't. But I'd like to understand your thought process.
A 5 or 7 year old boy doesn't know what it feels like to be a teenage boy or a man, let alone a female.

Yes, but the joke is that sex is not only outwards. It appears it is also in the brain.
So the picture that science is begin to understand is the sex is not a strong dichotomy of only 2 distinct variants .
So what determines then if it's really still a mental illness, a defect?

The body or the mind?

You want my honest answer as a Westerner trained in secular social science and how that relates to natural science including medicine?
Seems the solution is to grow some boobs and sew on a penis and that solves the problem.

Of course it's more complicated givin the employment of hormones through artificial means.

So my question is what is the defect ?

The body a defect as it relates to the mind ?

Or

The mind a defect as it relates to the body?

Sexual mutilation is destructive whether done chemically or surgically. Stop trying to justify sexual mutilation of children.
You have no clue what you're talking about, as hormone therapy is used for a lot of different cases, including our oldest daughter who is fighting breast cancer. Maybe get over yourself and do some studying, which you should have been doing all along if you truly are an educator like you say you are.

What if I told you that it is not objective and is not just science to talk about a defect, but rather what makes a defect a defect can be culture, politics, power, values and morality and all the rest in part?
In the end we are playing what harm is and that is not natural science.

Just because someone is different it is not wise to call that difference a defect.
