I'm sorry you feel this way Purex. It's the way it's always been done. God has ALWAYS revealed true principals pertaining to salvation, heaven, hell, the purpose of life, etc. through his living oracles.
So say the oracles. *smile*

If God told an LDS to kill someone (for the glory of God), would they do it?

Been there, done that, got the t-Shirt.

1 Nephi 4:12 And it came to pass that the Spirit said unto me again: Slay him, for the Lord hath delivered him into thy hands;

I've just been watching The Bible Vs The Book of Mormon doco here and have a question. At around the 5 min mark it talks about (forgive any mis-spellings please) there being a big civil war between the Jeradites at the hill Cumorah, then around 600 BC a Jewish family from Jerusalem migrates to the Americas. The father of this family being Lehi who has a son called Nephi whose descendants (Nephites) have white skin and Lehi's rebelious sons Lamen and Lemule have dark skinned descendants (Lamenites). The Nephites & Lamenites fight for ages until Jesus happens to visit them after his resurrection, which brings peace for some time, but eventually another huge battle occurs - at the hill Cumorah? How can that be for they are in another continent altogether?

That's what the LDS church believes, that Jesus came to the Americas to minister to the "native Americans" (aka descendants of Nephites and Lamaanites).

No, I actually read the BoM and Jesus came to America right after his resurrection in 33 AD. The Nephites were wiped out by the Lamanites at Hill Cumorah in about 400 AD, and the Lamanites forgot their origins and became the original inhabitants we know and love and give all our blackjack money to today.

I'm not concerned about that bit, I am wondering how the initial civil war between the Jeradites and then the second war between the Lamanites and the Nephites can happen at the same Hill Cumorah when these peoples were in two different continents?!

Not sure what your point is here Francine. Joshua 6:2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho...And then we all know the story.

I think you're confused, kadzbiz. Both of these events took place in the Americas.

It's a good question Kadzbiz. The Book of Mormon actually discusses two different civilizations - the Jaredites, who came to the Americas at the time of the Tower of Babel; and the Nephites/Lamanites who came out of Jerusalem at the time of the ministry of Jeremiah (600 B.C.). Did you know that the last survivor of the Jaredites (Coriantumr) was actually found by the Nephites and lived out his days with them in the city of Zarahemla?

To answer your question - a thorough reading of the Book of Mormon reveals that the populations of both the Nephites and the Lamanites expanded to the point where their populations covered all of South America and North America. In fact, the Nephites migrated northward in an effort to shield themselves from the more populous and aggressive Lamanites. It is very ironic that their final battle occurred in the same place that the Jaredites had their epic struggle.

But it's not so ironic that Joseph Smith received the records from Moroni at this same hill Cumorah, Moroni having buried them there some 1400 years earlier.

The Book of Mormon reveals nothing of the sort.

The doco must be confused. I only repeated what it said.

No I didn't know that. Regarding geography, why is it that no evidence has been found of the city of Zarahemla or Nephi, etc?

Who is held eternally accountable for the sin of war? The President? Congress for funding it? The voters for not throwing those bums out? The soldiers for following orders?

Great question. Luckily, God's the judge and I'm not. Sin goes to the heart and I don't know the hearts of any of those you've listed.

I think you would have to agree that a lot of evidence has been uncovered regarding ancient civilizations in South America. It is true that we really have no idea as to the exact location of Zarahemla.
