Are Atheists Happy?

Zhakir

Peace&Tolerance
Peoples' happiness isn't necessarily determined by their religion; some atheists are happy, some aren't.

I don't think so. At least an athiest will be really worried asking... what will happen if there is really a day of judgment? well i go to hell forever? Am i really responsible for my beliefes/disbelieving (in god or in a paticular religion)? and he will really be afraid of death etc. because 100% he can never be sure that god doesn't exsist. even if he isn't a real agnostic.
and this pictures is clear in agnostics.
I totally believe in what i said
Quran (20:124-128)
"But who so ever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment. He will say: "O my Lord! why hast Thou raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)?"(Allah) will say: "Thus didst Thou, when Our Signs came unto thee, disregard them: so wilt thou, this day, be disregarded."And thus do We recompense him who transgresses beyond bounds and believes not in the Signs of his Lord: and the Penalty of the Hereafteris far more grievous and more enduring. Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move?Verily, in this are Signs for those who endued with understanding.

You're imagining things. I don't worry about judgment or hell at all.

Zhakir,

Your post reminds me of something interesting. Sometimes, I will notice some of my fellow Americans asking an ignorant question, like "Do Arabs hate America?" Then some (but not all) other Americans will give their opinion on how Arabs feel about America. Sometimes they will create self-serving explanations for why Arabs feel a certain way ("They hate us, because we have freedom and democracy"). It never seems to occur to them that the only people who are in a position to say definitively what Arabs feel, and why, are Arabs themselves.

Your post is similar. You are not an atheist, but you are sharing your opinion about how atheists feel, and creating your own explanation which happens to be convenient for your religion. As a Muslim, I understand that you must take your faith very seriously. And therefore, it may be difficult for you to imagine how ANYONE in their right mind would not also take very seriously the idea of, say, a Day of Judgment. But you yourself do not take the ideas of other religions very seriously. You are not really worried that without a human sacrifice, the Aztec Sun god will remain permanently eclipsed and all the crops will perish. And, I am reporting to you with the utmost honesty and sincerity, if you care to know if this particular atheist is happy.....I am happy in the only sense of the word which matters, which is to say, a happiness that is worth having. In other words, even if I could be superficially happier believing in falsehoods, I would rather discover the truth, and have a happiness worth having.

And furthermore, I can report to you (again, if you care to know) that I am not afraid of an Islamic "Day of Judgment"....no more than I am afraid of the Aztec Sun god, or ghosts or monsters. Perhaps I should be afraid of all of them, but I am not.

If this were a legitimate argument, it would no less apply to theists and the playing field would still be even. Theists also should be worried asking, "What will happen if on judgment day, the god that is real turns out to be Zeus, Thor, or O.J. Simpson?" A theist, too, should be afraid of death, because he/she can never be 100% sure that the god that exists is the one he/she worships.

EDIT: My bad habit of not reading further responses before responding to a post bites again. Mr. Sprinkles made pretty much the same argument only one post back. :)

I understood, but believe me the case here is different
*This not really my word it's God's (to me it is and to more than 20% of the world population's)
**You didn't really understand me when i talked about agnostics,or when i said athiest can't be 100% sure god doesn't exist even if they are not really agnostics can you deny it

Atheists don't say 100% there isn't a god. Most of them would say, there is no real justification to think that there is one. But most of us would admit that we can't totally be sure, but even if there were a god, it doesn't prove your god. It just means there is some force that is not understood yet. You don't get to put the god label on it, and claim it as your own until we know what it is.

it's good to be able to check this now isn't it?, that's why i'm not worried

Atheist worships?! well what ever,as i said we can check what's right.and be 100% sure
Not the case with atheisim in the 21st century.

Good, same way you can't be 100% sure there isn't a day of judgment
You might wish to look for certainty
Good luck

I'm not 100% sure about anything. I might say the same to you. What if there is a judgment day and the christians are right, or the hindus. You think your playing the safe bet, but ignoring other religions. Assuming that yours can only be the one true religion. But thats not the case we have here.

Why would someone worry about something they think is ridiculous?

Atheists do not believe in life after death (Usually) so it would follow that it`s not something we`re too concerned with.

For the first part of your post, since you are a religious believer, you can't really say how atheists feel about anything unless you were an atheist yourself. Even then, your testimony now would be questionable at best because of your current feelings about religion.

And let's not play semantical games regarding how we define agnosticism and atheism. I can think of a million things that I would prefer to discuss.

It is the case .May be I will agree if yo respond to what in this page and prove Quran not to be God's
Miracles of the Qur'an - Modern Science Reveals New Miracles of the Qur'an

I am sure that any other religious person could do the exact same thing, and it means nothing when the evidence is as dubious as that.

Why not have a page that gives values for pi, the speed of light, the weight of protons and electrons, euler's constant, and so forth, if the Quran, or any other religious text, is designed to impart scientific knowledge?
