Are demons real?

Apples and oranges, again. You keep doing this. If I say that I like apple pie, are you going to argue with me if I say that I don't like apple sours? Why does everything equate to some 'broader' category?
How are demons and Leprechauns not in the same category? I would think that they are both in exactly the same category -what distinction are you making?

The question is, why can't you just address the OP directly. You don't believe in demons, great, but your 'argument', isn't an argument.

Hang on - you are complaining that Leprechauns and demons are in different categories - I am just asking you why you think they are in different categories, what is the difference?

You're off topic.
No I'm not, this is the topic. Demons exist in the Abrahamic tradition, and the Irish believed in leprechauns. You seem to accept that demons exist, but dismiss even mentioning leprechauns because for some reason you will not explain you say they are in a different category.

What is the difference?

And Leprechauns?
Absolutely. I know this because a friend of mine dragged me to see a Jennifer Aniston movie.

There are probably quite a few people who believe that sightings of leprechauns, fairies, chupacabras, aliens, etc. actually represent demons in disguise. At one point in time, that was in fact my own "go-to" answer for just about anything of supernatural report.

Sure, that's why I asked the question. I was interested in why someone would accept that demons exist, but dismiss leprechauns. I would think they are in the same category.

Wow! It is the year 2015, this is an internet forum - so everyone has computers, access to all of the information possible and thus must be at least somewhat technically literate.

And there is a discussion going on in which many think demons are real! Seems incredible.

This is metaphor, if the scientific mind can not comprehend simple metaphor then it should be more learned in the arts.

In fairness, it has nothing to do with having (or not) a "scientific" mind. It has much more to do with having a mind that takes every bloody thing literally, which is considered a very simplistic way of understanding reality by some (myself included). :D

The distinction I would make is in the level of evidence arguing for their existence. I believe demons have things like possession claims (with paranormal activity witnessed by multiple adults), experiences by many people, etc., etc. that allow for an argument for their real existence.

Now you (as a materialist) and I can argue all day and night about the evidence but there are serious claims by intelligent people to consider.

I am not aware of any serious claims for the existence of Leprechauns or Pink Unicorns or Flying Pigs. So that is why I would put them in a different category.

Does ISIS represent the presence of demons ?
I think they get really close, but aside from those monsters,
flip a coin, if it hands on it's edge,
you might have a winner.
