Are religion and philosophy mutually exclusive?

Doesn't mean that you can't consider the other philosophies, though, right? You can still believe yours strongly and consider the other ones. And not everyone is driven insane by philosophy. Me...I prefer the term self-ordained solitude, lol.

Philosophy - Love of knowledge of lies
Faith - Love of knowledge of truth.
Why do you think Philosophy=lies?!

Do you know what we learned in my philosophy class? That if you say, "No cows are brown" it automatically means that the sentence "All cows are brown" is false, and that "Some cows are not brown" is true. Wow! Those are lies?

Debating this leads nowhere. Throw out all the fancy terms, you want, which describe all the various philosophies, and it will lead you nowhere. Philosophy and faith are two diffennt things. Philosophy is an attempt to fictionalize faith.

Only from the perspective of a person that believes faith is important. Some don't and you seem to forget that and look at them as sinful and bad, I presume?

There is nothing wrong with contemplating truth. The problem comes when we contemplate a lie.

Do you have any suggestions on how to contemplate on the truth of something without risking contemplating a lie?

I understand this. I am sure there are many philosophical statements that have truth in them. This is a tool of Satan. Mix truth with lies.

I will revise my statement.

Philosophy is lies mixed with some truth.

This reminds me of those weight-loss schemes that have you reciting "i'll be thin today, i'll be thin today, i'll be....". Does this particular strategy usually pan out for you? It does little for me.

I think his approach is quite clear: don't think.

Just because you say it's a lie doesn't make it so. I keep saying this and it's not sinking in here...
This is the whole problem with philosophy. It is so juvenile. This statement "Just because you say it's a lie doesn't make it so." This is an attempt of philosophers to discredit faith. Truth is eternal. It has no end and no beginning. It cannot be created or destroyed. If I say something is a lie and it is, then it is. It cannot be proved or disproved. It must be taken on faith and backed up by scriptures, which is the word of God which is truth. It must be taken on faith. It cannot be proved or disproved.

Philosophy is the attempt of man to prove or disprove somethong. It may have had legitimate beginnings but has turned into something that discredits faith and makes those that believe in God look foolish.

I believe in many things that cannot be proved, like demons. This does not mean that they do not exist. If you cannot prove that they do not exist, then nothing has been accomplshed. Philosophy does not prove or disprove anything more than what we already know or believe to be true.

Seriously.... look into that logic class.

Think upon eternal truths of the Bible and other scriptures, not the lies (mixed with truth) of men.

More particulary, the philosophies of men mingled with truth.

I am sure you have heard this phrase. "The philosophies of men mingled with scripture."
