Are These Grounds for Legalizing Pedophilia?

And seriously, as if the problem with child molestation is that its gross, and not that its an intrinsically heinous, harmful, and immoral act.

I honestly doubt I would have been traumathized had I had sex with women when I was a kid just after having my first erection.

Now, if society had told me I lost a horrible thing and horrible things were done to me and the woman was bad bad evil and they forced me to go to therapy, etc, sure, I am guessing I would be traumathized.

In any case, as I said, I find it gross. There are problems with the physical interactions in cases where thefemale is too young for what others say here.

Eventhough that, what exactly do you think would be hurt on a 8 year old kid if he had an erection and went on having sex with a 20 year old woman . Like, honestly, call it rape, whatever, but hiw do you expect the kid to be "hurt" by it if the woman offered and he said yes and he physically enjoyed e interaction and then asked it again and again?

Of course that doesnt negate that on a lot of cases and interactions there can be injuries, but how would there be in the case above? Do you honestly think there would be?

Man, the only reason I would have felt abd about it when I was a kid, was if society spent the rest of the time latter telling me it was a sin, I "lost my childhood" , etc.

Otherwise? Its physical stimulation that causes pleasurable reactions.

Again, yes its disgusting, like zoophilia or necrophilia. I would ippose it not only because of that but because the legalization would be a mess of abuse everywhere and I prefer it without such legalization. I think its simpler, less messy, less complicated (rape cases are hard as it is when it comes to evidence) ad the kids would be screwed by society afterwards anyways.

Though I imagine in the future... Yes, I think it may become legal. I dont like it, but I think it may.

We have seen what happens with societies that allow it. It isn't good. It can't be allowed and the only question is when a person can be seen as an adult to make their own informed decision. If a kid is really mature enough then there should be no issue in getting them emancipated from their parents.

There isnt a lot to be informed about, thats the funny part.

The only major thing they need to be informed about that they wont understand as kids, is how effed up our culture is regarding sex in general.

As I said, I do see problems arising from it being legal. A lot of cases become way to complicated to judge , rape cases are hard as it is.

As I said, you're ignoring the role of sexuality in human development, particularly our emotional and psychological development. Is it possible an 8 year old child suffers no adverse consequences from sexual relations at that age? I guess. Is it likely? Not from the evidence we have; young children are not prepared, emotionally or psychologically, for sex- and this is seen by the types of behaviors following sexual abuse that I mentioned; depression, aggression, anxiety, guilt, inappropriate sexual behaviors, and so on. Put simply, there is nothing to gain and a lot to lose.

We can only hope not; but its unlikely we have anything to worry about. Child/adult sexual relations carry an intrinsic power disparity and possibility of harm, and really have nothing going for them. And since children cannot reasonably give consent to sex, it would likely require us to overhaul our regulations of many sexual crimes, which also revolve around the notion of consent.

But yeah, I find soy milk disgusting, but that doesn't mean I think it should be illegal or find it immoral. Having sex with children is harmful and selfish, regardless of whether it is "disgusting"- and that is the real problem with it, not that it grosses us out.

There is evidence that it can be harmful. What evidence is there that it is harmful always in cultures where there is no shame in sex, and no shame in this kind of behaviour?

There are physiological problems with some sexual interactions between a grown up and a kid, but not all.

If the overwhelming weight of scientific evidence indicated that pedophilia were an inheritable sexual orientation, like heterosexuality, would you favor legalizing it on those grounds alone? Why or why not?

Question: What else could it be? Are you indicating that it's something people choose? Or that it's a mental illness? Why? Because it seems wrong to you?

In my opinion, the act of course shouldn't be justified, but merely having this (unintentionally, as it appears to be an absurd belief to say this is a chosen sexual feeling) shouldn't be discriminated as much as it should, making people live in fear because they have it. It's gotten way out of control, at first it was shaming children rapists, then pedophiles who have lusted over kids but never touched them, and finally the pedophilia itself.

If this were to be proven a mental illness, still, discriminating pedophilia would cause people to be afraid to come out about it, to get help about it, due to so much hate towards them.

The people who are angry at people because of their sexual feelings, are just as bad as the ones that are angry at people because of their sexual orientation, if there's even a difference.

Question: Have you gone nuts, Sum? What's with the questions? I set up a hypothetical and you treat it as some sort of personal attack. WTF, Dude?

I think that you're going to have to be mindful of the fact (and I've stated this more than once in this and the other thread) is that very few people have positive connection with the word pedophilia, as it's most often talked about as heinous action against children and in these instances, the pedophile is absolutely suffering from some form of mental illness, be it a sociopathic or psychopathic condition. If the pedophile struggles with his/her condition and it impacts daily life in some way, they likely suffer from some form of paraphilic disorder.

I can understand that one may have an attraction and never dream of harming a child. Got it.

And you're right, the pedophile doesn't deserve to be discriminated against or treated unkindly, as there is a difference between having specific inclinations and acting upon them.

However, I do think that pedophiles need to be realistic. They can't expect society to just get over it and relax when such terminology has, historically, had such negative connotation attached and most people do not have the opportunity to engage in these types of conversations. Most can't wrap their brain around the concept of pedophilia existing on a spectrum.

However a pedophile terms their attractions, what separates them from many others with fetishes or paraphilias (and I know that many REJECT this terminology - I don't mean that offensively), is that they absolutely cannot act upon their desires without such action being abusive and criminal. Such desires cannot be realistically achieved, which means the individual must have a realistic handle on their "fetish" and if they don't, they do have a responsibility to seek the necessary help, if they care about themselves and other people.

This could be said about anyone, though.

No. I pretty much view pedophilia as a natural occuring phenomenon in our species. But I dont think "natural" implies "moral" and it should remain illegal.

I am assuming that by pedophilia you mean the act of having sex with children. Being attracted to children, no matter how disturbing it is, shouldnt be illegal. As long as it doesnt translate to action no crime has been committed, after all.

I was talking to a friend the other day about the weirdness of some animes where they have a character that is allegedly and adult look as if she was a child (by that I mean short and with practically no curves)

He said there are persons like this in real life and its not even a mutation. To be fair, I ve seen women at the street that are shorter than 5 feet and sometimes they even dont have almost boobs nor butt and were identifiable as women somehow cause of their face (sometimes the face looked around 50) and the fact they were walking alone.

He said ere is a woman at work he almost asked the people there what happened what was the child doing there, was it not he realised she had working clothes. (He doesnt work anywhere that would accept minors). So he said even the face can look like that of a kid and she be an adult.

It made me wonder: this women diserve a man too. They dont cease to diserve a fulfilling sex life simply because their bodies never looked like well, sorry to be rude, but like the body of an actual woman. At the same time, the kind of men who would feel attracted to them, would pretty much be attracted by what would attract a pedophile.

Or perhaps by their personal character, wit or intelligence?

IME, there's more to catching the attention of a man than boobs. And if I didn't have bobs, I certainly wouldn't want to be dating a man who only wanted to sleep with me because of my child-like figure. Cuz ew.

Objectification is tremendously unsexy, whether because of your boobs or the lack of them.

I was thinking the same thing, but call me naive. I mean, a woman with a girl like figure can't possibly have anything else going for her, right?

Who said that?

I metely find a child's body to be a big turn off.

Most men I know do too.

If you dont, hey, thats you.

Except for bisexuals, most people cant honestly claim no degree of sexual attraction or repulsion by bodies.

No matter how smart, witty or whatever I find someone. If its a dude, I am not getting an erection from it.

I am hardly alone on that.

No kidding. We're all gonna end up looking like Steve Buscemi in the end, so we'd better learn to find something other than physical appearance sexually attractive, or old age is gonna be a long and frustrating time.

No woman I've ever known, regardless of the size of her boobs, has ever reported any general problems to me vis a vis inducing erections in her sexual partners. Sexually, men are very simple creatures.

There is evidence that it can be harmful. What evidence is there that it is harmful always in cultures where there is no shame in sex, and no shame in this kind of behaviour?
I'm not sure, I'd have to look; but so far as I'm aware, there's no evidence that it would not be harmful; which strikes me as the more pertinent question. And always in every case? Probably not. But that's a false dilemma in the first place.

There are physiological problems with some sexual interactions between a grown up and a kid, but not all.
What types of sexual interactions between adults and children are exempt, I wonder?

I thought pedophiles where attracted to children, not merely child-like appearence, so I wouldnt say "that kind of man" is attracted by what would attract a pedophile. Could be wrong, though.

And I think I could be attracted to such a woman. Maybe not because of her body, but if she is smart and funny and compassionate I somehow doubt that would be a problem.

It depends on what you define as pedophilia.

IN the US, the age of consent is 18, I believe?

In the UK it's 16.

In Spain it's 13.

Europe in general fluctuates between 14-17.

In Japan and Columbia it's 12 (I believe).
