Quite so, Angellous, and very useful answers. :clap

So, Angellous, would you rather be born rich or beautiful?

Beautiful so I could marry rich, or rich so that I could buy beauty.

I guess both are equally shallow.:cover:

Who are your favorite modern-day scholars?

And the million-dollar question - what do you think defines a Christian?

:D

Precisely. I affirm the resurrection because if I didn't, I could not call myself a Christian. I confess the resurrection, but I don't have to confess the miracles. The confession is too closely married to Christian theology.

That's not true. There are plenty of atheists and non-Christians who have PhD's in New Testament teaching and writing.

Hey, AE, just out of curiosity...do you not consider the resurrection within itself to be some sort of miracle?

How do you feel about the Trinitarian view of the Godhead?

Do you "see" biblical justification for Trinitarian beliefs?

Sure.

I affirm the Trinity as represented in Christian orthodoxy. I used to be a "strong" Trinitarian, but after a review of early Christian history this past semster, I noticed that the majority of early Christian creeds were "Bitarian," only mentioning the Father and the Son, and not the Holy Spirit.

To me, the claim that the Trinity doctrine is monotheism seems to defy logic. I think a more precise term would be "false" or "weak" monotheism rather than "true" or "absolute" monothesism characteristic of some Jewish groups and Islam. Trinitarian Christianity should be called "false" monotheism or henotheism in order to recognize the logical acrobatics that Christian theologians have to perform to force three Gods into One. No-one would recognize Christianity as monotheism without the persistent illogical insistence from Christian theologians that it actually is.
