No. For me, understanding God exists only in paradox - questions and theologies that are irreconcilable.

Hmm, and not the opposite where the nature of homosexuality is re-thought in terms of what is taught in the bible. Interesting! Have you tried to reconcile this as well in the direction that favors the bible? Or, is the evidence that some people are born homosexuals enough to refuse the concept in question outright.

We carry on the tradition of the Bible where we have tension, not where we have "interpretative reconciliation."

Just a question. One read in the OT of Molech, and not sacrificing children to him.

What I've read, I see that no-one is really sure who he is. do we know who he really was, and is their any evidence outside the OT?

Compare Paul's understanding of the church as "the body of Christ" in 1 Corinthians 12 with the Pastor's understanding of the church as "the household of God" (1 Timothy 3:15). Write an essay that explores the different emphases of these metaphors and their practical implications, with particular reference to Paul's overall advice in 1 Corinthians and the Pastor's in 1 Timothy. Conclude your essay with a suggestion about which metaphor for a worshipping community you prefer, and why.​

Good question. I've approached this question before, and I don't mind doing it again...

I believe that God judges all of us in the end according to God's perfect judgment - there is no advantage for a Christian or an atheist. Belief means nothing in the judgment, it is all about what we have done in this life. I agree with most Christians in the belief that nothing we can do earns our way into heaven - it is through Christ's sacrifice that God judges everyone.

However, belief in Christ does mean a lot in the present life, we can approximate God's plan for peace on earth by following the pattern of Christ's life and death - providing for the poor, turning the other cheek, etc.

Interesting. Thanks. I've heard other interpretations, which do say that salvation is conditional on belief in God.

Yeah, I don't think that's the case.

I'm very sympathetic to atheists. I think that evangelical Christianity (which is my tradition) begins and ends in atheism, and its continual struggle to define and redefine itself in light of progressions in science and philosophy demonstrates this point nicely.
