No religious beliefs
It's covered by Rule 10, though not explicitly, and "Only" threads are treated in much the same way as DIRs, with the exception being that the OP, if they don't identify as a member of that religion, may ask follow-up questions.

There are so many variables when it comes to enforcing the forum mission, it's difficult to have a written rule for every potential circumstance.

We're not going to drop the ban hammer on someone that unwittingly posts in such a thread, especially if they're a member in good standing. In such cases, the harshest action you'll see would be an informal reminder.

OK, thanks.

When I click on an alert, I can see the
linked post for only a fraction of a second.
Then the screen jumps to some other post.
It doesn't happen every time.
I can't discern a pattern.

Which staffer is mess'n with me?
Tell them to stop.

DIRs are forums intended to be used by members of specific groups only. In order to post within the DIRs, we now ask that you select DIRs that you belong to by visiting your account details. Please do not select more than two or three DIRs.

We hope this will prevent accidental posting in DIRs you do not belong to by all members. Please see Rule 10 for more information about how DIRs are governed.

If you have additional questions, feel free to open a thread in our Site Feedback area and we will be happy to assist."

When I click on the link for my account details, I get this, "

Hmmm.... Alrighty then. Evidently I can't reply to posts though? Lol

I am looking at a thread and get this message on the bottom, "You have insufficient privileges to reply here."

EDIT: ah okay! my apologies!

If I make a post and then edit that post to mention someone in it by putting an @ sign in front of their name and then save the changes will the people who have been mentioned in it receive a notification in the same manner as they would normally receive one?

Not as far as we know. You have to tag before you edit.

I'm having difficulty remaining calm when writing some of my replies. Could you give me some thing I could say to sort of break the anger? Are there any things I can do to remain calm?
Tips that work....
- Write your response, but don't post it til after reviewing & editing it the following morning.
- For faster results....
1) Sit back.
2) Relax.
3) Take a long deep breath, while consciously deciding to be calm & above the fray.
3.5) Optional: Have some bacon or chocolate or both.
4) When you feel equanimity return, consider how best to influence the poster who formerly vexed you.

My posts will sometimes suggest that I don't use my own advice.
Nay, when I'm being a jerk, I consciously chose to be a jerk.
But be sure to honor the rules.

Type out the reply that sates your anger, then delete it before you hit "post reply," step away from the forum for an hour or two, maybe have a bite to eat, then return and type out a mindful, respectful reply.

Another consideration: There is no shame in just walking away and never responding to a post that triggers you. You're under no obligation to reply just because someone quotes your post.
