Hey! Have bought a blender lately? Unless you spend about 150 bucks on one, it'll be broken by the time you get it home. It's a spiffy way to get another one just like it that doesn't work, either.
(Unless you go to a second hand store and find one of those from the groovy avocado green era. Those still work.)
