The special counsel’s indictment alleges that those in attendance – a writer, publisher and two of Trump’s staff members – were shown classified information about the plan of attack on Iran.

What makes you think that they knew that they had those documents? They worked with countless documents Misplacing a few may have been careless but it does not appear to be intentional. Trump has made it clear that his acts were intentional. He even showed that he knew the documents were not declassified by him. Why are you so ready to give him a break?

often claim that ignorance is exculpating,
but only for themselves...not for the masses.

For the relevant law in question is a part of that law that the law is broken knowingly. But yes, for the broad concept of all laws as the law you are right, but not the actual law in question.

Contrast that with real estate brokerage licensing law.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse for violating it.

Trump cannot very easily get off of the "knowingly" claim. Especially after it was demanded that the documents be returned. Unless one wants to use the defense that he is delusional.
