Can a believer...

I think it is possible to hear from The Spirit. But to understand what it is saying a person needs to learn the language first.....something the Jehovah's Witnesses are good for I think. :D

Hmm. The prophets are human and didnt need a medium. Why do we? Did something happen in time to make us ignorant to scripture?

Jesus in me
Moses, Abraham, Jesus, Paul, Muhammad, Joseph Smith, Bahaullah, and other prophets and people of God have heard God's voice directly and spoken for Him. This was not millions of centuries ago. This was practically yesterday.

If they can speak for God (or be God's reps) without refering to the Law, can a believer speak for God without refering to any scripture of their prophet or God?

Can we hear God through you and not through the prophets?

Taking out scripture intermedaries.

Thought at 1:45am give me a break

I believe so but scripture is also the word of God so why would one leave it out?

Yes, I believe that one can hear 'God', but I don;t like the word God as it connotes as concept most associated with monotheistic faiths. And yes, I believe others can hear this and speak of what they heard, however, when they do they are hindered by language. We have no other way to relate what we hear but through the medium of language but IMO, that limits not only the concept but what we may have heard.

I believe God gives me visions as well.

I believe it may be that there is nothing new under the sun. God has said all that needs to be said and hearing Him now just personalizes what we have already heard.

Thats odd. It hasnt been that long ago. I would find it hard to believe anyone was a believer if they did not or could not speak God's Word In themselves not through others.

Its alright to depend on the words. But if one cant speak as God speaks through them without the words, how does one know they got their message from God and not the prophets?

They lived but only close to over 2,000 years ago. If they can hear Gods voice directly and talk to you without refering to hebrew scripture, why cant believers today?
Because according to prophecies, they've been cut off.... No longer to get prophets, their priest to be confounded and be teaching lies.

Basically many are facing almost the opposite way from God, and facing into the spirit of the accuser (satan); yet they perceive themselves to be on the right track, though they hear not and do not see clearly.

As well as what has been prophesied, mankind has tied its self in knots, with self proclaimed prophets 'sealing' anyone else from coming to fix it.

Often today people hearing voices are deemed schizophrenic, regardless of it being checked as an actual ability... This is why people should be careful with cannabis, psychedelics, etc, as they allow communion with the spirit realm.

Also due to the deception in the books, many who really do hear God, will be confounded by the many contradictions it might cause, within a world which is nearer hell than heaven.

p.s The anointing oil in the Bible should be made with Kaneh-Bosem (canna-bis), which explains its healing, prophetic and spiritual shamanic abilities, that we used to find in all religions globally. :innocent:

I think you misunderstand what I said. I think scripture is for learning the language of The Spirit. The Spirit can be heard without the Bible. The Bible helps us to understand The Spirit which is not the Bible.

I'm curious what language you speak of here. For me, there is no language and what I understand being said I have to meditate and consider to place in the confines of our language..whatever that language might be. In my case, it would be English or French. What one do you speak of here?

I would strongly disagree with you. First of all, the Bible today is translated from several languages, some of which are dead. Those translations have many discrepancies and/or debates over whether the Koine Greek or Hebrew or Aramaic or, etc, words mean that the translators copied. Just taking one example... the word virgin in the OT does not necessarily mean what virgin means today. The same problem exists for all ancient sacred texts. What langauge do you think God speaks, if any at all?

Which scripture? Are you certain that God would limit itself to only speak to Christians? Why not the Vedas, Upanishads, etc? Maybe we should take Thomas to heart who said that if you wanted to find God, you should lift a stone or split a piece of wood.

Truth. God speaks truth. The language of the Bible is not a human language of words.

Sometimes I call Bible language math but nobody gets it. I am sure there is no human word good enough to describe the language of God.

If you refer here to what one gleans from reading the Bible, that is entirely different. However, even with reading the Bible, you have to couch its images in your language. Its' inescapable. This is why learning a foreign language is so difficult for some because they try to learn the language but try to translate into their own. One has to think, write and read in French, for example, to really be able to speak it. I believe meditation can lead to a better understanding of God without the need for a book.

One example which might prove useful to someone. Look at a problem. Trust only God to know the answer. Think on it with humility.

The will to know is a force. Let the force roll around like a little ball on a board of holes. Whichever hole the ball falls into, that is the answer. Some people will say that the answer is what the person wants it to say. But that would mean I am alone. I do not want to be alone so I let the truth speak to me. Sometimes you won't like what it says. The longer you listen to become friends with it the less you will find to not like about it. That is my opinion and an awkward picture and I don't think I can think of a better one. If I had a clue someone actually cared what I thought I might try harder.

If you will put Truth ahead of your own will it will pop the ball out of every hole it does not belong in. :D Then you will know which one is right when it settles in its correct hole. Yes, my mind has holes. Just ask anyone here. :p

You can speak for God by quoting His word. That is the only place to know for sure what His views are on things. If you feel Gods talking to you about something, see if it lines up with His word (the Bible). If it doesn't then it's not of God. For God never contradicts Himself like telling you to do something He said is wrong etc... Joseph Smith, Muhammad, Bahualla and the Jehovahs Witnesses have contradictory beliefs of what Jesus did and said. That's why you can't trust every person who says they hear from God.
The bible warns to test the spirits to make sure there from God. And you do that by seeing if it lines up with His word (the Bible). Hope this helps :)

Yes, words are necessary for communication. I am sure God communicates in every human language, also in the language of angels and even in language that does not exist yet.

I think you do not hear from God.
