Can a literal Genesis creation story really hold up?

Faith is nothing but a excuse for a complete lack of evidence....outhouse

I don't see where you can provide evidence of where the spirit in all of us originated, can you?

Our, are you exercising faith in non-evidence apart from that given in the book of Genesis?

A spirit does not exist in any of us.

It was created in mythology, and you have no evidence anything like it exist.

It is faith based.

What keeps you alive? When you hear "took his last breath", what does breath mean?

What keeps you from learning biology?

He be dead! Quick burn him, or burry him before he stinks.

You.........he----larious.

Learn biology?

What for?

I mean, if I can't no longer breath, I must be dead.

For the spirit that was in me must have left me.

Pretty plain.......and simple logic.

The question that has not been truly been answered yet is.....where did the spirit come from?

By faith in God, the answer is simple........God.

Where did you say the spirit came from?

What evidence do you have that a spirit even exists?

Heb_11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

No where on earth can this be found unless..................unless faith is God enlightens you.

Praise be the sciences, but praise be God of the sciences, for without God....there would be no science to talk about.

So then faith is believing something without evidence to back it up. I can have faith that invisible purple gremlins live on the dark side of the moon, but that does not make it so.

Your free to do so. I won't criticize you for it. You can call it your own religion if you like.

May I ask some questions about your gremlins? Do they give you any knowledge of hope, strength intimes of sorrows, comfort in times of suffering, guidelines for good living, how to love your neighbor's as you love yourself, how to have personal and intimate relationship with the creator God, how to deal with the enemy, be kind to others and lastly, to forgive?

If they do all that for you, I'm with you!

Imagination.

Now do you any evidence at all that would help place genesis into history or keep it in mythology??????

The bible is my guide master to my imagination, as you like to put it.

In it I get a reason for my existence, my existence as a god,and as a god being subjected to a world of vanity, to be tried and tested, that during this life of trials and tribulations, I may find joy, peace, love and understanding of the creator who gave me this life, and finally, to be found significant amongst the god-zillions of people, the god-zillions of planets, solar systems, to offer me a life's existence after this one, showing me unconditional love, despite my bad behavior, is most rewarding to me.

The book of Genesis, provides for me a beginning, not as the story depicts, with Adam and Eve eating of a fruit from a tree, but that the jest of the story is about the creator, and how He created us as gods, to know good from evil, to have a yearning and a hunger for Him, to search Him out as a blessing while as a god, and receive of Him all the wealth He offers.

I don't know about you, but I would place my life's existence on that story, simply by faith alone.

I mean, if nothing at all came from it, what do I have to lose? At least, I would have exercised some good in His name, more so than to live a life without hope of anything passed this life.

Again, the bible as a hold is like two hands, spread fingers placed between each others fingers, thumbs connected, forming one complete inter-woven union of both hands and fingers, connecting the left with the right as one.

The fingers could represent 10 different stories of creation,or ten different stories of God's dealings with mankind throughout human history, stories of suffering, stories of warnings (Prophets) stories of human behaviors, all neatly inter-woven together in one complete picture of the relationship between both heaven and earth, and how as it is on earth, how it is in heaven as well.

This is a belief system worthy off our attention, and thus evidence of things not seen, but heard, of things hoped for, but not yet realized, yet inciting hope, joy, peace of mind and the hope of a continuance of one's being (Soul) unto life eternal.

Tell me, what on earth could give all that to me? This?

Triumphant_Loser said "Then I die. They dig a hole and throw me in it, where my body will be consumed by microorganisms until there is nothing left. Hate to be frank, but that's what happens"

If that's the case, why even live on earth at all? Spare me the sufferings, pain, trials and tribulations, loss of loved ones, wars, evil trappings, the dangers of falling prey the vanities of this world, ruining my life and others lives? Why put up with all this?

All for naught?

It would have been better if I would had never been born!

But thank be God, who despite all that, He gives me hope, comforts me through all that and teaches me what being good means with rewards and last of all, gives me something to live for, adding worth to my soul for this life's existence and the rewards of a continuance of life without the vanities of earth life, but peace and love forever more.

Tell me, if someone who is down in the dumps of life, homeless, unloved, broke, sick, hated, cursed upon would not want hope of a better world?

Tell him that there is no hope of life after this one, tell him that this is all there is.
What do you think his reaction to that would be? Why not end it?

Blessings, AJ

Does the Jewish nation exist? If yes, then what is their history?
Their history is rich with evidences.
Did the prophets exist? Warnings come from?
Did Moses exist? The Ten Commandments come from?
Slavery in Egypt?
Joseph and his 11 brothers?
The Apostles

Much more to draw from.

Real history? You decide.

The exodus is mythology by ALL historical standards.

Exodus
moses
abraham
noah

none have ANY historicity at all.

Israelites made up their own history because they had no clue of their origns because they were wiped out s many times.

Israelites formed from displaced Canaanites, they used the Canaanite alphabet, the Canaanite gods, and even Canaanite pottery, because they were displaced Canaanites.

The conquest by Joshua is known mythology.

Well, as long as you insist on being correct, I guess I am not!

My answer to you then is: no, I can't.

Genesis Two is not history......would you not agree?
Therefore this is NOT a history lesson....nor is it your podium.
