Can Atheists Imagine?

I would rather know why many of them are so quick to point out the sins of others whilst ignoring their own.

It seems to me people beg to be told about sin. I don't judge anyone. How many threads do you see that start out with, "whats wrong with this" or "Is this a sin?"or "what does the bible have to say about this and that".

It is almost like you want us to tell you about our religion so you can make fun of us.

"Do you really believe that?" "Your taking away my Civil Rights that I never had to begin with".

I can hang out with Gays and Pagans all weekend and not have a problem till one of those questions pop up. It is almost like you wish we would all go away and die or something or at least should not have the right to vote or make money.

We are the bad guys who keep you down and make your lives miserable.

Just asking a simple question. I don't know of any biblical reason for believing that having a single lustful thought is as bad as murder.

My life is not miserable; however, it would be more pleasant if the religious right were to decide to mind its own business, instead of attempting to impose its religious teachings on everybody.

All of that and you still didn't address the point...

Wow, what a load of self pity. This thread did not just "pop up." No one was begging to be told about their sin. You initiated it with the premise that there is something wrong with others that you can fix. So you have no one to blame for the hostility other than yourself if people are reacting negatively.

It is my thought that when people ask what is wrong with something, especially on a religious forum, they are wanting to know why God says it is a sin.

Just so we're clear, how is that different from why Reverend Rick says it's a sin?

Because many times what an individual thinks and what God says (or does not say) are different.
Why is masturbation a sin?
The Bible says nothing about masturbation.
Why is homosexuality a sin?
The only answer provided in the Bible is "God said so."
So anything anyone comes up with, I.E. it is unnatural, it is immoral, etc, are merely the opinions of those who present them.

Why are Xians so hung up on sin?
It gives them something to talk about, when they enter that little box on a cold winter day.

I know I am not perfect, but doing I really need to bemoan about it.

I really don’t think it is fair to generalize based on a handful of thread titles. Remember that for every person who starts a thread like that there are billions of people who didn’t.

Reverend Rick's definition of a designer religion: A religion recently invented in the last 100 years to accommodate a persons way of thinking. Generally these folks are the first generation in their family to belong to this faith and are making the rules to fit their needs.
