Correlation is not causation and the paper says it's not sure what to make of it.

Homosexuality Link to Child Sex Abuse Confirmed — Gender Nonconformity
Interesting. It appears that gay people were more likely to be the victims of abuse. The question is whether they were more likely to be chosen as victims due to their orientation or if they were more likely to "become gay" due to the abuse. Either way it is not a valid excuse to claim that homosexuality itself is immoral.

I would like to ask you a question...perhaps a question that is a bit complex, but I think worth thinking about anyway.

First, is it possible that our brains (since you mention "mental illness") have a gender? That is, is it possible that the well-understood truth that males and females "think differently" and "emote differently" is based at least in part on structures within the brain?

Second, is it possible that the structures that make up the physical sex of an individual could differ from the brain structures that make the mental sex of that same individual -- if those structures are developed at different times during gestation, and influenced by different hormonal or other influences?

Now, it is actually well known that in-utero development of many body systems happen at different times, some speeding up while others are slowing down, or stopped altogether. So, the question I'm finally trying to get to is this: is it not possible that an essentially "female brain" could develop naturally within an essentially "male body" or vice-versa?

And if that were the case, would it really be correct to call it a "mental illness?"

I think you should forward these questions to someone who studies such things.

So my post gets deleted but this is allowed? This board is going down the toilet.

Encyclopedia.com said:
Converting male to female anatomy requires removal of the penis, reshaping genital tissue to appear more female, and constructing a vagina. A vagina can be successfully formed from a skin graft or an isolated loop of intestine. Following the surgery, female hormones (estrogen) will reshape the body's contours and stimulate the growth of satisfactory breasts.

Female to male surgery has achieved lesser success due to the difficulty of creating a functioning penis from the much smaller clitoral tissue available in the female genitals. Penis construction is not attempted less than a year after the preliminary surgery to remove the female organs. One study in Singaporefound that a third of the persons would not undergo the surgery again. Nevertheless, they were all pleased with the change of sex. Besides the genital organs, the breasts need to be surgically altered for a more male appearance. This can be successfully accomplished.

Read the definition for "mutilation" above and then read what I've included below. I'm rather certain removal of the penis or a mastectomy qualifies as mutilation. Do you disagree? Once the penis is removed in MTF surgery, can it be re-attached and work as it did prior? What about the breasts in FTM surgery?

"Mutilation" is a judgement though, one which offends those who see a modification as a positive.
I recommend using "modification" instead. It's accurate, & lacks connotations of disapproval.
Discussions will likely be smoother.

I suppose but from a technical stance, it's correct. ;)

It's no more "mutilation" than any other surgery that removes unwanted tissue. Why does it bother you so much?

I simply don't agree with it and was making a point about why I used the term "mutilation". That's not the same thing as it bothering me so much.
Why do you feel you have to "agree" with anything? Do you feel compelled to agree on any other medical procedures that don't involve you?

I read that is CA you can go to jail for misgendering. But who knows if any of this is real. Sounds unbelievable that you are forced to believe a man with a penis is a woman. But when dems are in charge, nothing is beyond belief nowadays.

The reps ****ed up and only have themselves to blame. Reps tried to 'go along to get along' with the mental illness agenda of the filthy dems. Reps should have beat the filthy dems to a pulp EVERY time the filthy dems tried to brainwash the America with their *edit* agenda.

Against the ruling due to the "gems" in the conduct section ordering Whatcott to use specific words and not to use other words which the "tribunal" wants . That is nothing more than mandate speech dictated by the state.

Mutilation doesn’t treat gender dysphoria and those “prescribed” mutilation don’t lead happier or more fulfilled lives, post mutilation.

As we (the unmutilated) are fully aware, mutilation doesn’t make a man into a woman or a woman into a man. Furthermore, in my experience, the appearance of the majority of victims of this barbaric practice, look and behave nothing like the sex they have been convinced to believe they “truly are”.
While "prescribed"? My therapist didn't talk me into getting my breasts I removed, I contacted him so I could get his signature so that the health insurance would pay for it. I already had depressions about having breasts and looking feminine before I had any idea that transsexuality is a thing and that it would be possible to do anything about my situation.

And I am fully aware that I don't really have a male body. Still I feel much better now.

If you don't support people getting their bodies changed to their preferences, you probably also don't support other kinds of body modification?

I still don't see how slapping on a pair of boobs or surgically attaching a penis and being injected with volumes of hormones would make anybody happy and comfortable. It's a case where the insane runs the Asylum and nobody actually wins in the end.
Your description has hardly anything to do with the reality of sexual re-assignment surgery and hormone replacement therapy.

Male-to-females grow breasts just from the hormones - sure, some additionally get implants, but if you have a problem with that, why not with people born female getting implants?

And there is a surgery for female-to-males in which a shaft artificially created from parts of their arm muscle is combined with the clitoris to enlarge it to the size of a penis. I don't intend to undergo that procedure, I can quite understand why that idea would make one uncomfortable. But still it is a personal decision.
And there are also other surgery methods in which the clitoris (which is the female equivalent to the penis) is simply reshaped to appear larger - and it grows a bit from the hormones alone anyway.

And "being injected with volumes of hormones" is also not exactly the case - transpeople receive hormones in the amount that causes them to have hormone levels like the opposite sex of the one they were born as, not more. I get a shot of hormones every 3 months and that's completely sufficient.

But isn't that what you suggested you do, when you said, "I accept that gender dysphoria is a mental illness. However, I affirm also that “transgendered” individuals are people and not to be dehumanized through their illness. I also affirm that gender dysphoria should be treated as any other mental illness and not taught as healthy."

I mean, those sorts of "statements of fact" ("gender dysphoria is a mental illness"), and affirmations you made imply that you have indeed studied such things. Otherwise, how could you be so categorical in your statements?

Are breast cancer patients having a double mastectomy mutilating themselves? Why is it mutilation for a trans person to have the same thing done for medical reasons, but not for a cis person?

Yes, in my opinion, such a surgery involves a procedure which can be defined as mutilation. Furthermore, comparing a surgery which is done to save a life (removal of breasts due to cancer) to a surgery which is cosmetic in nature, specifically one which affirms a delusion ((sexual reassignment surgery) is comparing apples to oranges.

While you may not enjoy the word I used, the word was used correctly. It's no different to me than using the word "retard" in a sentence, not relating to intellectually diverse human beings (I'm sure that was politically correct enough for you).

Here is an entry from Google's dictionary regarding the word "retard".

Google dictionary said:
1. "delay or hold back in terms of progress, development, or accomplishment.
"our progress was retarded by unforeseen difficulties"

To finish my point, I didn't use the term to bully or troll (as warning I received informed me I did), I used it because it's correct. Perhaps it wasn't considered PC but it was correct.
